The arrangement of their meeting had been a QUIET ONE, but intentionally not a DUPLICITOUS GESTURE. Quiet on DANIEL’S PART ( at least, she ASSUMED it was quiet on his part ) because he himself was more SILENT GHOST than MAN; quiet on RUBBER’S PART because, for all that she lacked in the ways of SUBTLETIES, she distinctly cared NOT to cause Terence any CONCERN. Maybe some would venture to call her HESITANCE to BELIEVE the man’s story in its entirety a sign of POOR FRIENDSHIP; but Terence had always claimed to value HONESTY and TRUTH, so wasn’t this just a show of her LOYALTY, really? After all, it was FOR HIS OWN GOOD.
either way, it’s definitely for the best he isn’t AROUND FOR THIS. poor dan --- he has no idea WHAT’S COMING, does he?
With an INWARD GRIMACE, Rubber knocked ANIMATEDLY on the foreboding ( in FEELING, not APPEARANCE ) barrier to the D’Arby’s chosen dwelling. “Daniel? It’s me --- uh, rubber!”
