What a fun day, I walked around Champs elysees, randomly found Musee de la Mode, had a great sandwich & a Glass of white wine, wrote 3 pages (more that I have written in months), worked a little, went to the jardin d'elysees (I think) & read a bit of Nana. Then I walked and walked and walked, boulevard de st germain and cafe de Concorde, a little bookstore where I got a tiny Zola book, had to get myself pain meds and got to the tour montparnasse when it started raining horribly and also it got very dark and cloudy so I didn't go up, just took the metro back to my place. Btw my card didnt work so I had to climb up, down & up again (its 140 steps ok!!). Anyways. I have to wake up early tomorrow but im debating getting a drink tonight. I wish I could do power naps for real.
Soft fingers brush the back of her neck, drawing her attention from the notebook and photographs in front of her.
"Hey," her husband murmurs, dropping a kiss on the crown of her head. "What're you doing?"
Kate lifts a hand, covering his fingers. "I mean to do this when we got home, but you know how that went."
He chuckles, nodding. "Yeah, we got a little bit sidetracked."
She snorts. "That's one way to put it."
They'd returned from their Paris adventure to half a dozen crises at work and a family that had missed them dearly; taking some time to scrapbook and remember their trip just hadn't been in the cards. Now, though, with everything a little bit calmer and her maternity leave coming to an end, she wants to take a little while to reminisce.
Castle kisses her temple. "I checked on little man, he's still out cold."
Kate exhales. "Good."
After seeming like he was off to a great start, their son has had the hardest time sleeping lately. Any rest he can get is greatly appreciated; they'll tackle getting him to sleep at night another time.
"So," Rick continues, sliding onto the chair beside her. "I can help with this vacation scrapbook, if you want."
Kate smiles, pressing her lips to his cheek. "I'd love that, babe. Thank you."
He grins, pulling a stack of their vacation photos closer.
When you’re forced to give public speeches because you’re supposed to be a grown up woman who can stand a crowd of overjudgemental french students without panicking, but you’re also a psycho with two adoptive dead dads who support you and encourage you.
Lars sticking his finger into James’ ear while James is holding a beer can on his head and Jason is imitating a tin soldier between them, all in front of the Eiffel tower.
Because of course.
I promised Necker pics so here are some Necker pics.
Necker being the hospital where Combeferre interned. Or the one he mentions anyway, presumably he interned in multiple hospitals?
The first pic is a view from the street. The second one is from the main entrance to the courtyard.
(Tbh, looking through these, the angles are actually kinda crap. Sorry ;;;; uh... @midautumnnightdream do you have better ones? Where you could actually see the main entrance maybe?)
(I mean this is still better than nothing but I could definitely have done a better job. In my defence, I was super tired at the time.)
Anyway more under a cut:
^ More of the courtyard.
^ And some more.
^ These buildings might need some mending. This is from the east side of the hospital.
^ Pretty cute anyway...
^ Entrance to the courtyard from the east.
^ A tiiiiny little peek inside.
Sorry, we didn’t really go indoors much.
^ Walking around. (Still the east side.)
^ Detail.
And that’s pretty much all I have of the canon era side of the hospital. The rest of these were built later.
^ What is this mysterious green stuff I can see out there? But surely you can’t have plants at a hospital?? :p
^ The Carré Necker, a garden built so the patients could like actually go out and enjoy the sun and stuff. Also hygienic reasons, ventilation etc.
Seriously, imagine how bleak it must have been in canon era though. Look at the main courtyard for comparison.
^ Fishes. Definitely not canon era.
^ The portigo with all the fun historical info. This is technically part of the canon era building but this façade was built later so not really.
I think I might just make a second post for the info posters/whatever. This is a lot already
I was so unsure whether to come here or cancel (been here a couple of times, no money, seems wasteful etc) & it only took me minutes to fall in love with this place again. Horrible public transport, people everywhere and yet all I want is to be one of the busy parisians around me. I might need to make some changes in life again.
Also my roommate is a French Moroccan NYC guy and we smoked I our room this morning it was v nice.
