Also, if the Notre Dame catheral burns down, I will be extremely sad. This is has been standing powerful in Paris so for so long.
If this becomes our Library Of Alexandria, I have no issue rioting against the world.
It’s such a symbol to so many people, and it’s stood proud for over 700 years. It’s a symbol of hope.
So...that’s the national historical damage for today.
Notre-Dame is NOT going to burn to the ground
Le Monde is reporting that firefighters in Paris are getting the flames under control, and that although the roof and spire have been destroyed, the two towers and the entire structure of the cathedral are “saved.” This is based on statements from the commander-general of the Paris fire brigade and from Laurent Nunez, the secretary to the interior minister.
I never even thought this could happen
there's this thing in apocalypse movies we're they show the ruins of all the main cities and all that's left standing is the shell of the main monuments
and they do that so that you know what they are showing you obviously, but in my mind, seeing that image so many times...
I guess I just unconsciously believed those buildings indestructible
no matter what happens the big ben will remain, the great wall will remain, Notre Dame will...
she was beautiful, and old, and full of millions of live lived through scenes inside its walls
how many people you think got married while it's organ was playing?
how many families stood under its stained-glass-light to give their child a name before God and men?
how many people murmured their prayers to the echos of its walls?
she was beautiful
and she was old
and she was fragile
and now she will be no more
