14 juillet/ Bastille Day fireworks in Paris
when: 11pm- 11:30pm where: Champs de Mars (the park that sits below and around the Eiffel Tower).
This year's music theme: "musicals from Broadway to Paris". We''ll hear classics from Gershwin ("An American in Paris"), Loews ("My Fair Lady"), Legrand ("Cherbourg's Umbrellas") and transition to songs from popular French musicals such as "Notre Dame de Paris", "Le Roi Soleil" and "Starmania". The grand finale will be set to Bernstein's "West Side Story".
How to get there: The area around the Trocadero and Natural History Museum will be closed off all day. Metro: line 8 @ La Motte-Piquet, line 6 @ Dupleix, Cambronne, line 10 @ Emile Zola, line 13 @ Varenne. RER: Javel, Invalides or Austerlitz stops
Good to know: Driving is not recommended as a large area around the Trocadero will be closed off to traffic starting @ 5pm. Metro stations Iena, Alma Marceau and La Tour Maubourg will be close from 7pm onwards. Velib' stations (the bicycles hubs) around the Champs de Mars (by the Eiffel Tower) will be neutralized all day.
