Another couple from Figgiverse! This time it's Runi and Yong Chen.

He was raised during Empire era, forced to work as technician for the Imperial Army. Before meeting Runi he didn't care about the politics. He just wanted to have work and gain enough money to provide for his wife and kid, despite not being able to see them in a while. However his life unreversibly changed when the Rebels attacked his outpost and took him as a hostage. He didn't want get involved with them in fear of Empire hurting his family - only to find out the Empire doesn't care about him and that his beloved ones are already long dead. Runi is the one who helped him get through his grief, get up on his feet and understand what they are fighting for - so the others won't meet the same fate. After some training and with Runi's help he made it to Tiggi's team - the Patchfinders - and served under her command in the Rebel Alliance. He eventually ended up falling in love with Runi, they got married in both Mandalorian and his homeland's tradition and had three children.

Tales of Clan Skirata (test sample)

Niner paced back and forth while Parja was in active labor on the other side of the door. He hated being forced to stay out but the orders were clear. Ever since Atin fainted at the emergency operation during Laseema’s pregnancy Gilamar and Uthan didn’t allow fathers in the delivery room. There were already so many childbirths in Kyrimorut that the two of them were confident to be able to manage anything. And if not – there were Jedi at the yaim that would help. Two of them were giggling nearby causing Niner to get even more nervous.

“Could you please make your wives stop? This is a serious operation.” He asked Fi and Darman almost pleadingly. “Why are they even laughing while my wife is in pain-“

“Udesii, ner vod. Tigg’ika and Et’ika seem to have a little secret…” Fi grinned while rocking his youngest son in his arms. “Guess it has something to do about my cyar’ika being the baby prophet but since your wife didn’t want to have anything spoiled…”

Niner sighed. “Fine, I’ll wait too… but can you two please stop snickering? It makes me more nervous…”

“I’m sorry, Niner. We’ll try to stay serious. Right?” Etain nudged her best friend who kept snickering.

Tiggi sat straight and improved the grip on little Makke asleep on her lap.

“Ah, yes, sorry, sorry… it’s just… well, you’ll see.”

Niner groaned. “Can you at least tell me if our child will be healthy? And if there will be no complications? Or if-“

Tiggi held her daughter tighter and stood up to place a hand on Niner’s shoulder. “Hey, don’t worry. If it was something bad I would tell you, okay?”

“I… I trust you. But I wish Mij would let me in.”

“I know. It’s not fair. I’ll try to make him change his mind… but no more fainting.” She glanced at Atin who just looked away in embarrassment. He didn’t like to be reminded about being the reason of the fathers ban. Fi as always tried to ease the atmosphere. “Yeah, vode. We shall support our ladies. And be glad they don't reproduce in triplets or more like strills do.”

Niner cracked a smile. All three of Mird's pupps were sweet but also causing lots of havoc. He was still amazed that some women were capable of birthing more than one baby at once. Hopefully it wouldn't happen to them. They already had plenty of children of his vode to look after. No matter what, it was good to have his brothers and the rest of the aliit by his side. Finally he managed to calm down. Not for long though because Parja’s screams got louder.

“What’s going on there?!”

“It looks like it's almost over. Just wait a little bit more… she’s a strong woman. She can do it.” Etain tried to comfort him again.

Niner paced nervously. He wanted it to be over already, to be there for her, to hold her hand, to hold their baby-

He gritted his teeth. Will he even be a good father? Everybody seemed to get into the roles of the parents so easily and he still had doubts if he was being a good husband… He cared about Parja, respected her and supported in everything. But was it love? He wasn’t sure. And if he wasn’t sure about his feelings towards his own wife what if he won’t be able to love their child…

The door opened and Mij’s head popped out. “Congratulations, it’s a boy.”

Everybody cheered. Niner felt relief wash over him. “Thanks the Force- Are they alright? How’s Parja feeling? Can I-“

“I’m sorry Niner, you have to wait a little longer.” Mij said before closing the door again. The clone let out a frustrated huff. He had no choice but wait. In the meantime Parja continued to groan in pain behind the door. What was happening there!? To make it worse, Etain and Tiggi began giggling again. He had to bite inside of his cheek to not start screaming. From happiness? From nervousness? Stress? Relief? Impatience? He didn’t know but he was on the edge.

Mij’s head popped out of the door again. “Congratulations, another boy.”

“A-another?!” Niner was shocked. Everybody was. He shot a glance at Tiggi and Etain who were the only ones grinning.

“Twins?! You’re having twins, ner vod! Kandosii!” Fi cheered.

Niner still couldn’t wrap his head around the news. Two boys. Two ad’ike. He already started planning all the things they needed to take care of two children at once. More clothes, more beds, more food, more diapers, less sleep… He didn’t even notice that Etain and Tiggi kept giggling for some reason.

Mij’s head appeared for the third time. “Congratulations. It’s a girl.”

Everybody went silent. Poor Niner couldn’t stutter a word.

“Triplets?! Oya! What a combo!” Fi cheered.

“Th- three babies… we have three babies…” Niner muttered and leaned against the wall. Ordo was immediately by his side. “Everything alright, vod? Do you need some fresh air?”

“No, no, I won’t faint… I think. Ordo, is it real? We’re having triplets?”

“Yes, ner vod. I guess, that was the big surprise… am I correct, Tiggi?”

“Yup.” She grinned. “And don’t worry, we’ve got you covered, Nin’ika. You’re not alone in this.”

“I… thank you. I still can’t believe-“

Mij appeared for the fourth time with a mischievious smirk. “Congratulations! Another healthy baby!”

This time Ordo had to rescue Niner from collapsing. Even Etain and Tiggi were in shock.

Mij laughed. “Sorry, Nin’ika. I couldn’t let the girls have all the fun. It’s just triplets and your wife is ready to see you.”

Despite weak legs the new father managed to walk into the delivery room. Uthan was tidying up the tools while Scout was helping Parja hold the newborns.

“Nin’ika…”

He was already by her side. “I’m here, cyar’ika. This… this is a miracle.”

“This is a lot of babies. More than we expected… I should have looked at that shabla ultrasound…”

“Let’s not think about it now.” He smooched her forehead. “How are you feeling?”

“Exhausted as osik. And hungry like a battalion of clones. But still alive.” She looked down at the newborns cradled in her arms. “We have to think about more names…”

“The oldest still can be Cuun like we already decided.”

“Gebi. I want our middle child to be named Gebi.”

“Alright. What about the girl?”

“Hm. I don’t know. Look at her.” She handed him the youngest baby. Niner carefully cradled her in his arms just like he was taught by his brothers who already got their own children. The newborn seemed so fragile yet so calm and trusting. In that moment all the worries, all stress, all anxieties vanished. The only thing left was pure affection, care, protectiveness… and love.

“Runi.” He said confidently. “Her name will be Runi.”

I’m still unclear about why Fi and Parja like each other, but now that I think about it, the undeveloped nature of their relationship may actually make sense in a way that’s kind of unfortunate/sad. 

In the beginning of the series, Fi makes some jokes and references to domestic matters and marriage that left me wondering how he even knew about all that. I figured he’d been consuming a lot of media, and that’s as good as confirmed by characters like Scorch and Niner (maybe Fixer too? can’t remember) telling us that they try to shut out a lot of the noise coming from the civilian world while Fi’s out there lapping it all up. (Niner reads, but he doesn’t watch the news and doesn’t go out like Corr does.) Atin is in a relationship, Darman is in one with a Jedi (who has never been in a relationship either for obvious reasons), but nearly everyone else in Omega’s social circle has no experience with that kind of thing or is learning about it for the first time. So Fi is learning most of what he knows about romantic relationships from the media and absorbing those expectations.

What if his relationship with Parja is just something shaped like what media has told him married relationships look like, but it’s not actually the relationship he’d want in a long-term partner had he had more life experience and been able to learn from that of real people around him?

If you ship Fi/Sev and let it co-exist with Fi’s marriage to Parja, it just gets even worse, especially if Fi has internalized ideas that make him really struggle with what he wants versus what he’s been told he should want by popular media.

Nocturius: I wasn't sure if I should post that one publicly as it might become a reference for Fi-enjoyers through the years. I still haven't fully decide how I imagine Parja.. I might change her appearance eventually. I kinda want her to look a bit Scandinavian/Saame. Resilient people living in harsh condition very wintery biome.

What see saw from The Clone Wars and Rebels about native Mandalorian was also in my thought process. But anyone can be Mandalorian. Not just white-blond/ginger folks from the TCW, or east-Asian looking ones like Sabine.

In any case, her ethnicity is not that much relevant. Parja is a strong tough woman. She love hard and hate hard. I want her design to reflect her personality. I've notice she is not super popular among the RC fans, but it's Fi's wife, and I do liked the story about her give so much attention, positivity and care as he could totally have been a vegetable to rest of his life.

PS: I'm totally cool with people shipping Fi differently in their Alternate Universe. Here on Fi-Core tho, is as close a possible as the original ''canon'' material.
