Seen: August 12, 2025 Park Armory, New York Diane Arbus: Constellation June 5 - August 17, 2025 The installation was extremely disorienting to experience in person. I understand the premise that Arbus’s practice was presented without chronology and that the intent was for viewers to encounter each photograph on its own terms. It was my first time seeing her work in such a large grouping and across such a wide selection. I would not consider her a great photographer now. She was an artist who used photography as her medium. I also feel that if these photographs were taken today, they would raise significant ethical questions around exploitation and voyeurism.
