Requested by anonymous: Hi! I have a request! Could you do a Banryu x reader imagine, Banryu falls in love with a completely oblivious person and tries to confess his feelings to her, but reader considers it as a sign of friendship. Frustrated, he just yells that he loves her and ends up blushing. So reader also ends up confessing to him. Thanks!

A/N Alright, here it is hope its okay. Also after writing and looking him up again, can I just say that he kinda looks like Jun from Seventeen... Never noticed that until now 😅

You walked the path to the Hwarang. Normally you would walk with Ah-ro, but she didn't seem like she wanted to come today. Honestly, you didn't mind it that much, you could finally enjoy the peace and quiet since she tended to a bit loud about her problems. Anyway, the walk wasn't that quiet especially after you got near the Hwarang House. Now the question remained, why was there screaming? Well, you didn't expect to see all hwarangs laying on the training ground. You made your way there and leaned over one, who happened to be Hansung, and frowned.

"What is going on?" "Noona!" He sat up and smiled at you. You smiled back at the younger boy (by only 1 year) before looking around again, seeing that most hwarangs were now looking at you. Your eyes connected with Banryu's and you looked away immediately, scrunching your nose up slightly.

Now you didn't hate him. Not really. After all you could be somewhat considered friends if anything. Although he could be incredibly rude and inconsiderate, but.... Yeah, no he was like that most of the time, but nonetheless. You had seen how his father treated the boy, when you absolutely weren't supposed to of course, and you had some sympathy for him ever since you had seen him like that. Broken in a way...

You were quickly pulled back into reality and looked back at Hansung with a raised eyebrow.

"We've been practicing for hours! Wi-Hwa has been torturing us just because we sneaked out once!" He whined, some of the hwarangs shouting in agreement, and you scoffed. Crouching down, you poked him.

"Then you should follow the rules then." You teased before getting back up. "Taking a cold shower helps with tiredness and muscle pain." You then said, making some hwarangs groan loudly and you chuckled.

"Its 's that or acupuncture." You spoke and that seemed to light a fire as they got up and walked (ran) off. You chuckled again before realizing that you were now alone. Until you noticed Banryu still sitting against one of the pillars. He seemed to be resting, his eyes closed and you inspecting his features again.

His hair was pulled into the typical hwarang hairstyle with a few hairs hanging loose (most likely from training). you didn't know why, but you just wanted to touch his hair. It seemed so soft... His features itself seemed to have softened, maybe because he wasn't frowning now. And for some reason he was blushing-

"Why are you looking at me like that?" He asked and your eyes widened as you realized that he had woken up while you were staring. You didn't even speak as your whole face heated up before you just apologized and ran off to your and Ah-ro's station. You entered and fell on the bed, letting out a loud scream in the pillow before turning around to lay on your back.

"I'm doomed..." You mumbled before letting silence taking over.

The next day, you were not doing much either. Ah-ro was spending time with her brother and nothing bad had happened yet. Hansung had come by earlier to talk, but he left an hour ago. Then again, when you hoped for something to happen you didn't expect Soo-ho and Banryu to be dragged in and both covered in bruises and cuts.

"What on earth?!" You exclaimed and the boys looked at you before looking away. "Sit." You said as you grabbed your stuff. Both boys sat down and you started with Soo-ho. You pressed a cold towel to his face before treating the small cut he had.

"Alright, your done." You spoke before moving to Banryu and doing the same. Banryu had a few more cuts than Soo-ho, which made you believe that Soo-oh had won the fight. Banryu hissed as you touched his wound, making you pause.

"Why do you guys always fight? Just ignore each other..." You mumbled before continuing. "That's like telling Soo-ho to be quiet." He grumbled and you laughed before putting everything away.

"Well... You're not wrong, but he does care of you in a way. Even with how much you fight." You said as you stood up and turned around to clean your hands.

"Then again, you're probably going to kill each other one day." You joked before sitting down again, facing Banryu once more. He was just staring at you and you frowned.

"You okay?" "I like you." He said and you smiled.

"Yeah, I really like you as a friend too." You said back, patting his shoulder before walking out. Banryu just stared at the door in disbelief.

That was the first time he tried to confess his love (even though it was on accident).

The second time was intentional. He had dropped some flowers in your room with a note that said he liked you once again, yet the one thing he had to write on it (aka his name) he forget to write down.

And now was his third time. With some convincing of his "friends" aka Soo-ho, he decided to confess to you by talking to your face again. Now he was staying in your work room, waiting for you with a frown on his face. He was getting more nervous by the minute until you suddenly came in.

"Banryu? Can I help you?" You asked with a bright smile, making him instantly relax a bit. Now he trusted you a lot, even if he didn't show it. If he had to chose any of his friends, it would be you. Because you didn't get close to him because of his position but rather because of him and that was something that was difficult to find.

"I need to tell you something important." "Really? You didn't get kicked out of hwarang, did you?" You asked, eyes wide in fear. He looked up to you, eyes wide as well.

"What? No!" He said and you nodded, smiling again before sitting next to him. He didn't move away like you expected him to and instead looked at you with a soft expression and smiled (aka the expression below).

"Alright, what is it then?" You asked and he looked down at his hands, fiddling with his fingers. You waited for a few seconds, but he didn't speak up. Placing your hand on his, you leaned forward a bit so he could see you.

"I won't kill you, you know." You joked and he looked up again, staring at you before he spoke up.

"I like you a lot." He finally said and you smiled at him. "I know. You've told me before, Banryu. And I said I liked you too. I consider you a very good friend, if not my only friend." You said back and his expression fell as he pulled his hands away from yours and got up. He sighed loudly before turning to face you again, face flushed in either embarrassment or rage.

"I don't mean like a friend, stupid! I like you as more, I want to marry you when we're older! I don't want you to be with someone else because I want you to be with me! I love you!" He exclaimed loudly and as soon as the last part left his mouth, your eyes went wide and your mouth dropped. He seemed to realize what he had just said, his face flushing and turning away.

You were slightly embarrassed, but on the inside you were screaming happily. The man you had liked for ages now, had just told you that he liked you back. And you were just staring at him instead of saying something.

"Uh..." "Forget it..." He mumbled, turning to leave but you got up and grabbed his hand. He looked at you and you paused again, looking down to your intertwined hands.

"I like you too..." You whispered, but he seemed to have heard nonetheless. You looked up through your lashes and he was just staring, not saying anything.

"You do?" He asked and you nodded, fiddling with his fingers before freezing when he actually intertwined your fingers and raised your hands slightly, not looking at you. You took at him before deciding to take initiative. You stood on your toes and leaned forward, kissing his cheek for a second before leaning back. Now he was completely red as he looked at you in complete shock.

"I wanted to do that for awhile now." You admitted and he gulped, still staring at you.

"Then again, I wanted to do this as well." you said, grabbing his face in your hands and kissed him on the lips. You pulled back in seconds and smiled at him again, ignoring how hot your face had become.

"I'll talk to you later!" You said before waving him goodbye and exiting the room. You closed the door behind you and leaned against it, smiling brightly as your hands went to cover your face. You pushed yourself away from the door and stared in front of you for a few seconds before turning with a jump when the door behind you slammed open. Your face was grabbed and you felt Banryu's lips press against yours. Your eyes wide again before closing as your hands wrapped around his arms. When he pulled back, you stared at him before chuckling.

"Get a room!" Someone exclaimed and you turned your head to see some hwarangs, including Banryu's roommates. You blushed and turned, hiding in Banryu's arms out of embarrassment.

"Just a second." Banryu said, walking down the stairs. Five seconds later, he was chasing Soo-ho through the Hwarang house with the other hwarangs laughing.

NO YES URHG I've been having this idea for a Boys Over Flowers!AU where Jidwi is the heir of the most influential company in Korea (Shinhwa), but after a scandal where his father gets murdered by a mobster or something he goes into hiding while his mother tries to sort out the mess. 

After several years, he graduates from a top uni abroad and expects to become the CEO of Shinwha, but is told that he must start from the bottom (office work) and work his way up to become CEO so they don’t suspect that he is the son. He ends up working in the same department as Sunwoo, Ahro, Banryu, Hansung, Yeowool, and Suho.

Yeowool is plenty rich but is bored of his lavish life and decides to get a job. Hansung is supposed to the the heir to a law firm but is an aspiring writer/historian. Because he cuts ties with his family, he loses financial aid and has to get a job at Shinhwa. At first, Hansung is annoyed at how spoilt Yeowool is, and Yeowool doesn’t understand how someone could leave behind such a bright future, but ya they fall in love because otp <3 Hansung writes a successful book about the history of Hwarang’s that gets converted into a kdrama, and Yeowool learns to become more independent and gets a job as a model. This is pretty lucky, because Yeowool’s family loose their estate when they’re caught in a bribing scandal.

Suho and Banryu are both from rich families, and have known each other since birth. They are sons of government officials with polar political views, and because of that they had to become rivals. During university Suho claimed that Banryu wouldn’t be capable of opening a word document without the help of a maid, and in their rivalry they challenge each other to see who would get an “employee of the year” award to settle their argument. Spending so much time together ends up with them falling in love, but because of the strict “no dating coworkers” rule and their pettiness (to win the award) they try not to act on their feelings. Plot twist where Banryu’s step-father is working with the mobsters and blackmailing Shinhwa with details over the scandal, and Banryu is supposed to find out who the heir of Shinhwa is. Suho finds out everything and surprisingly isn’t pissed. Instead he says “If you go through with his plan, you automatically lose the Employee of the Year Award.” and convinces Banryu to double-cross his asshole step-dad. After things settle down, Banryu and Suho realise that they’re actually really good actors and are cast in Hansung’s Hwarang Drama. End-game Suryu yaas. Also a thing where Sooyeon and Banryu meet and Banryu considers dating Sooyeon. Maybe not because that would be too complex.

Ahro and Sunwoo are siblings from a poor family. His father had a flourishing pharmacy that was shut down to make way for the companies’ new building. Jidwi takes pity on them after meeting Sunwoo at a coffee shop (previous job as a barista) and gives them a job there (anonymously). They end up working there to make money to send Ahro to medical school and reopen the pharmacy. While there, in a twist of events, Sunwoo finds out that he and Ahro are not siblings. He’s the estranged son of the same mobsters that were responsible for the death of Jidwi’s father. They try to convince him to expose the heir of Shinhwa but Sunwoo doesn’t know who Jidwi really is, and they end up striking a friendship when they find out about each others tough past in border-line poverty conditions. They get cloooser and closer, and when the CEO beyotch Jisoo finds out she does everything she can to keep them apart, to the point that she even targets Ahro. With all the attacks on Sunwoo and Ahro, people at the office begin to think that Sunwoo is the heir of Shinhwa. CEO Jisoo eventually talks to Sunwoo and tells him to back off or she’ll “take care” of everything (read: kill Ahro). Things are resolved when Jidwi and Sunwoo finally get their shit together and help each other. 

Roles: 

Ahro, Yeowool, and Hansung are secretaries. Hansung and Ahro become close friends because of their similar situations, which makes Yeowool jelly. The three of them enjoy gossiping in the lunch room.

Suho and Banryu are programmers. They frequently sabotage each others code (as if coding isn’t hard enough as it is) to piss each other off. Neither of them win Employee of the Year awards.

Jidwi and Sunwoo start off as regular office workers, but Jidwi keeps one getting Sunwoo promoted because he isn’t making enough money.

Wi-Hwa is their sect manager and frequently makes them partake in very strange “group bonding” sessions on the weekends, to their annoyance.

Hwarang Female Character Appreciation Post #2

(Oh god it’s been so long since my last post OTL sorry guys... and since Sooyeon is such a personal favourite I’m so PRESSURED to write this post well OMG)

WARNING: LONG POST + there will be an abundance of the repetition and variations of the words “cute” and “adorable” XD

I am back with my second installment of my series of meta for the main female characters of the drama Hwarang!!! Giving you all the goodness of female characters who break stereotypes and steal hearts!!! ;) This time, it’s my personal favourite female character of them all, the one and only... Kim Sooyeon!!! (I love this gif so much omg thank you op <3)

I have to admit, at first I was REALLY critical and judgemental of Sooyeon’s character (IM SO SORRY BB OTL) because we were only given the information that she’s friends with Aro and that she’s the younger sister to playboy Sooho and love interest of cool guy Banryu at the start of the drama. My mind immediately conjured up the mental image of the stereotypical nice daughter from a rich family, quiet, elegant, well-mannered, boring, background material. BUT OH MAN SHE SURPRISED ME

She’s the VERY EPITOME of bubbly, cute and endearing /heart eyes/ She can be very manly, shy, playful,funny, lovey-dovey, daring, petty, romantic, relatable, ALL AT ONCE!! She’s a very multi-faceted personality that draws us in and keep us hooked, not just for her love line with Banryu, but everything that she does <3 <3 (get ready for the onslaught of gifs coming right up!!!)

Ah~ the legendary first meeting of the two love birds ^~^ LOOK AT THAT CHEEKY LOOK OF PURE SATISFACTION ON HER CUTE FACE WHEN SHE SQUEEZED HIS BUTT, and not to mention how her expression froze as Banryu turned around XD this shows how much she’s not a pushover and that she would get back and seek revenge on her brother whenever she gets the chance ;3 i guess Sooyeon is a very HANDS ON person ;)))) (pls get used to my bad jokes, i won’t change anymore hehe) I still remember her adorable squeak when she retracted her hands in light speed and hugged herself XD not to mention how her first reaction in panic was to slap Banryu and immediately regret it (ah so cute)  

and after she used a FUCKING VASE to knock her furious brother Sooho out cold and hanging off a fence, she fuzzed over Banryu’s face where she slapped instead of caring about her brother XD we could all SEE THE AMOUNT OF WORRY IN HER FACE UGH AND BANRYU IS SO IN LOVE HAHAHAHA

After that whole fiasco and Sooho losing his memory of that night (no thanks to Sooyeon and her trusty vase ;)) she was even nice enough to write to Banryu to make sure her brother didn’t get angry and cause trouble. (ISN’T THAT LIKE THE NICEST THING EVER??? if it was me I’d just lay low and maybe disappear out of shame :’)) she got a infamous reputation around town as “the girl who got her chest molested” but she still worried about Banryu (getting killed by her brother) more than herself XD

This scene is getting on my nerves on HOW CUTE IT IS UGH~ Sooyeon actually shows up to the night club- I mean Okta to look for her lover boy /swoons/ (and not to mention with that gift of red wine which was expensive AF) judging by the way we see her barge into Sooho’s rented room and walking back out, we could see that she’s basically trying to find Banryu by walking into every occupied room to try her luck XD if that’s not the most badass, daring thing that someone could do, I don’t know what qualifies @~@ she finally finds a fuming Banryu and pulls him aside (I have no idea how she has the guts to pull him when he looks like he could murder somebody ;_;) the two lovebirds were enjoying some(miniscule) alone time when KIM SOOHO BARGES IN AND LANDS A PUNCH ON BANRYU’S FACE (he finally remembered that night Sooyeon apparently got molested (molested somebody hehe)) 

The funny thing about the next thing that happened is that we see Sooyeon getting shocked by the sudden attack, but it doesn’t stop there. Second by second just by the look on her face we could tell she’s getting angrier and angrier, until she just makes a split second decision to sacrifice her expensive gift and just use the heavy wine bottle to hit her brother on the back of his head (again). Even funnier, she just lets go of the bottle until it hits the ground with a clear resounding breaking sound (she’s so cool how to be her omg) she then pulls Banryu up and just walks over her brother’s unconscious body with Banryu XD

MAN I hold this conversation SO DEAR TO MY HEART <3 <3 it’s just so precious and protective of Sooyeon seriously

“If my brother does anything to Banryu you have to tell me right away!” said Sooyeon in a grave and serious tone. “Even if I do tell you, what are you gonna do about it?” Aro questioned. “Then I will, oh I tell you what, climb over this wall and end my brother~” Sooyeon answered, aggressively gesturing a neck-slice, “you’re dead Kim Sooho, I’m not gonna stand here and do nothing.” her eyes glinting murderously. Shocked by the words, Aro asked, “Are you really the Sooyeon that I know??” Sooyeon fired back confidently, “I protect my man.”

OMG I CANNOT EXPRESS HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS CONVERSATION UGH it’s this conversation and what Sooyeon had expressed here that made me fall deeply in love with this character /sobs/ why is she so precious 

Ah, this makes me think of the sweet times being with siblings XD this can’t get more real than a real sibling relationship, and I applaud the producers for including this amazingly realistic interaction between these two :3 

Yes, they fight. Yes, they get really physically brutal with each other. But Sooyeon finally told(screamed) her brother the truth and stopped the situation from worsening. ^~^ She’s really honest, I’ll give her that. She clarified everything and left no detail out, even the part about grabbing Banryu’s butt. Owning up to something like that needs a lot of guts, even towards a family member.

Oh and how could I forget the amount of trust she puts in her crush??? She’s courageous and adorable and all, but she does get blinded by love sometimes (a LOT of the time XD) But judging by the limited contact that she could get with Banryu in that ancient time period, and how they started off getting to know each other by letters, it’s quite easy to understand why she isn’t weary of what Banryu is doing in the Hwarang house. 

Up until the most recent episodes, she still did not show any sign of fearing their opposing family backgrounds, and that is simultaneously a good thing and also a bad thing. The relationship can blossom under the ignorance of threats, but when the problem really emerges to break them apart, it’ll result in serious heartbreak.

THIS SCENE BROKE MY HEART UGH. Sooyeon was waiting outside Banryu’s house, excitedly adjusting her hair trying to look good in front of him (LOOK AT HOW CUTE SHE IS), but Banryu just walked past her. She was SO IN SHOCK and started crying, and I STARTED CRYING TOO I AM SO WEAK FOR HER MY POOR BABY... T.T 

Even when her brother tried to get back at Banryu for making her cry, she didn’t let him go after Banryu. If she was sassy enough she could just let Banryu get beaten up, but she didn’t, and held on to her brother as strongly as she could even while she was crying her heart out... 

Oh man. This was when it was announced that Banryu was going to go along with the others to protect Princess Sookmyung. Sooyeon was so worried about  Banryu’s safety. Meeting Aro at their usual place (the short wall where they both put up ladders to talk to each other XD), she cried and cried, saying how Banryu could make such a decision without talking to her about it first :( the funny thing about it is that Aro’s going as well but Sooyeon wasn’t worried about her at all XD

Then Sooyeon wiped away her tears and made a grave decision. She wants to give Banryu a snip of her hair for him to remember her by. Why is it serious and not creepy at all? Because in the olden days, in Chinese culture (it extends to Japanese and Korean culture but maybe not completely on details) it is a token of serious commitment in a relationship, where the woman gives the man her hair as a sign that she would wait for him to return from their separation. But the fact that Sooyeon still decided to give him such an important token when all of them know how serious it meant, really shows how determined she was to wait for Banryu. 

THIS SCENE IS SO CUTE AAARGH!!! Sooyeon actually wraps up a cut section of her beautiful hair in an elegant pouch and handed it to Banryu before he leaves for the escort mission, and how she worriedly asks if it was burdensome makes me go “aawwww”~ I can still see the slight awkwardness between the two of them though, the kind of awkwardness when you like each other a lot but aren’t well acquainted enough that you could be comfortable in front of them yet. 

AND YOU KNOW WHAT MY LITTLE DARLING BABY WENT AND DID?? SHE KISSED HER LOVER BOY ON THE CHEEK THAT’S WHAT!!! ASDFLJALS;DFL;

I REALLY love how she took the first step in most of the stuff they encountered, the first fateful meeting (butt grab), the first letter she wrote him, the first gift (liquor, which didn’t really become a gift but rather a weapon), THE FIRST KISS /screams/ and Banryu finally gets the guts to pull her in for a real kiss /swoons/ AND THAT KISS IS THE REALLY SMALL AMOUNT OF TIMES I’VE ACTUALLY SEEN GOOD KISSING IN A KOREAN DRAMA OMG most of the time the female leads would just pause there and stare with their enormous eyes in shock through the whole kiss XD

and that wraps it up until the things that happened up until episode 14 (I think I’ll make another post on Sooyeon when the series ends, since I love her so much XD)

Ah seriously I spent half a day typing this XD (if it adds up the days this has been in my drafts, I think it’ll be over a week), but I love Sooyeon so much this post deserves nothing less than PERFECTION <3 <3 (jk I know it’s not perfect, there’s SO MUCH MORE TO TALK ABOUT ON HER PERSONALITY) somehow I wish that there’ll be a spin-off series that has Sooyeon as the main character, but I kinda know that it’s not possible... (I can still dream can’t I? /sobs/)

p.s.: I have no idea when the next parts will be up (for Princess Sookmyung and Queen Jiso), since I take REALLY LONG to type up each post T~T but thank you for reading!!! Love Hwarang with me!!!
