Thought I’d reccomend fun game that’s brought me a lot of joy these last few months. For those who love Dinosaurs and old school Zoo Tycoon, there is: PARKASAURUS on Steam.
Parkasaurus is a cute, fun simulation game where you’re running a park full of dinosaurs. There are “missions” you can complete to help you understand how to better play the game and a free play mode where you can build a big ol’ park of your dreams. Some of the controls take a little getting used to (I didn’t understand using the water “view” tool to make sure my trees were close enough to water without being right next to or in it for a while) but it’s very fun. You can make creative, interesting exhibits without having to stick to only one tree or on rock type, as there are several types for each different biome available and dinos like them all the same. Privacy is instead determined by tall grass and shelters as opposed to putting tons and tons of trees in an exhibit, so you can almost always see your dinos. And there’s a fun digging minigame to get fossils you eventually turn into more dino eggs (tho you can automate it for money).
The game is very chill and lots of fun, as there’s a bank that can transfer any of the three currencies (money, hearts, and science) between each other if you’re running low on a particular one for an unlock in the heart of science tree, or are just low on money. The heart and science skill trees unlock more items for your park, be it higher ranked gems for bringing back dinosaurs of greater renown, new stands and food trucks to make more money from, different rocks, trees and shrubs for various biomes, and more! Oh, and HATS. Because once they’re full grown, you up your dinosaurs’ appeal by putting fun hats on them, which can also do things like make them more friendly, change their sex for breeding purposes, and more.
As you complete the various missions, you earn rocketships which can be used to grant yourself starting bonuses across all parks, such as extra money spent at night or a free egg or two when starting out. I do recommend doing the tutorial and a few of the initial missions to start our before making a custom park, as that will get you a lot more familiar with the controls and tools.
It’s only $25 regularly, and I’ve gotten a ton of playtime out of it. The only issue I’ve had is a small bug on the “break out” mission” that’s prevented me from completing it, but everything else has run very smoothly. And the dinos are So Cute! Give it a try!
Been playing a lot of this lately
more parkasaurus! the velociraptors are such little goobers lmao
Parkasaurus Takes Dinosaur Management to New Creative Heights
Parkasaurus is a wonderful new take on the tycoon-esque titles that have always been a popular relaxed game to play for just a bit or get intense and spend hours creating the perfect park. From the art style, unique mechanics and variety in the actual dinosaurs themselves, Parkasaurus is building a fun exploration into what taking care of dinosaurs brought about by aliens might really be like.
Give it a look!
