STEPPING INSIDE, YOUR FINGERS grip the doorknob as you shut and lock it behind you. Huffing a little, the ten-hour shift starts to catch up on you, your ankles burning and feet swollen. From the living room, muffled sounds coming from the TV make your ears perk up, blinking slowly and yawning, you push up off the front door and walk over to the living room.
Parker’s head turns your way, and a faint smile appears on her face, her locs in a bonnet, and she wears a white tank top with black shorts.
Her tatted arm rests on the back of the sofa, her hand stretching out for you to take it.
“Hey, baby.” Parker rasps, exhaustion evident in her tone, eyes droopy, and her eye bags a little more prominent. Her smile, so wide and only for you, the light from the TV catches the glisten in her eyes as she stares up at you.
You try to smile but struggle, intertwining your fingers with hers. Parker brings your hand up to her lips, pressing her lips on your skin carefully.
“Come rest, you had a long day.” She begs, you stand behind the couch, contemplating.
“It’s okay, baby. How was your day?” You question, resting your hand on your belly, your breasts feeling tense, and your ribs hurting a little. You breathe out of your mouth, seeing Parker raise a brow.
She stands and comes behind you, resting her chin on your shoulder and planting her hands on your stomach, massaging the tense areas. “Come on, sweet girl, you need to relax. How long have you been moving all day, hm?” You stay quiet, not wanting to admit it, and let her be right.
“I’m fine, I promise.” You whisper, a shaky sigh coming from your lips as Parker’s lips brush against your neck, careful as she brings her kisses down to your collarbone.
Her hands slide up to your ribs, the tips of her fingers gently rub your skin through your scrubs.
“I need you to be more than fine.” She whispers, moving her lips back up to your neck. Her caress is so kind, you feel your legs giving in. “Parker.” You warn, she ignores you, and helps you walk around the couch.
“I just need my baby to be okay. Can I make you feel better? You’ve had such a long day, I can only imagine.” Parker states as she helps you sit down on the couch, placing a pillow behind your back.
You observe as she squats down in front of you, untying your shoelaces, you hold in a smile and shake your head. “I cooked you your favorite.” She goes on, eyes on your shoes as she takes the left shoelace off, then goes to the right shoelace.
“You didn’t sleep at all today?” You mutter, and a heavy, satisfied sigh leaves you as both shoes are off, and Parker takes your socks off. You spread your toes open, finally getting to relax your muscles.
Parker shrugs and flexes her biceps as she stands, hovering over you, she picks up the throw blanket that is on the back of the couch, opening it and laying it on your lap.
“I got some sleep, then I woke up and made you dinner.” Parker leans down to you, her hand coming under your chin as you pucker your lips, feeling hers. It’s a quick peck, but it makes you feel less stressed in seconds.
You watch her move back from you, now leaving your sight as she steps into the kitchen, hearing her move around the room.
You yawn and lean your head back, “You know I could do that.” You express, Parker looks back at you, and hums. “Why should you when I’m here?”
Your words get stuck in your throat, and she nods, “Thought so.” Going back to making your plate, she gets a bit of everything for you. Your favorite cup is on the counter by the sink, once she places the plate by it.
“You and our baby need all the energy you guys can get.” Parker rambles, her thoughts getting caught up in the idea of her making breakfast for you and your baby.
She wonders if the baby will have your smile or your eyes; she’s thought about it a lot, something that helps her sleep at night beside the scent of you.
You take your pants off and toss them on the ground, feeling hot and overstimulated from wearing them for so long.
Having the blanket to cover you, you sigh happily and continue to watch the show. Parker comes back to you, your cup in her left hand with ice and juice in it, and a plate with your favorite meal.
You look at it and smile, “Aw, honey.” You pout and glance up at her, “Love you.” You whisper, Parker smiles and kisses your forehead before handing you your plate and placing a pillow over your lap.
Sitting beside you, she places your cup on the counter, ready for you to attempt to grab it, only for her to do it for you.
A part of her knows it’s selfish to see you struggle just a little with small things, but she finds it cute; everything you do is cute to her, adding to the fact that your belly gives you a waddle.
Parker keeps her eyes on you, instead of the show, enjoying the sight of you eating. Seeing the way you relax even more, you swallow your food and look back at her.
“I swear you cook better than the last time, every time.” You let out, Parker laughs and looks down at the ground, trying her best to hide the smile. You like it when she gets flustered by your compliments; it feels like a small win every time.
“Thanks, baby, figured you would like it after a long day.” She shrugs, trying to be nonchalant but failing, horribly.
Your giggles echo through the room and find a place in her heart. Parker picks her head up and stares at you. Your body jerks as you laugh, your lips wide, and the plate of your food shakes with you a little.
“Mmh, still, you’re too kind.” You shrug and go back to eating. Parker bites her bottom lip from smiling so hard; her cheeks hurt.
Moving her warm hand to your ankles, you flinch as she begins rubbing the ache out. “Keep it, baby, I got you.” She mumbles, her eyes on the TV.
You listen and continue to eat, leaning on the couch and letting your feet rest on her lap instead of pushing into her thigh.
“I love you,” Parker says, seriously, looking back at you. You smile and look at her, “I love you back.” Your baby kicks your belly, and you laugh at the feeling.
“Guess someone has something to say.” You tell Parker. Parker brings her hand up to your belly and rubs it, easing your pain.

a/n: happy turkey day. my first pitt fic :) ahhhhh
The fluorescent lights of the Pitt hummed with their familiar electric buzz, casting everything in that particular shade of institutional white that made 3 AM feel like it existed outside of time itself. A week into night shift, and you were finally starting to remember everyone's names without having to glance at their ID badges.
"Incoming!" someone called out, and your head snapped up, your body already moving before your brain fully processed the words. Years in the Army had trained that response into your bones. The immediate shift from stillness to action, the way your mind cleared and sharpened like a blade being drawn from its sheath. A gurney burst through the ambulance bay doors, paramedics rattling off vitals as they wheeled in a middle aged man clutching his chest.
"52 year-old male, crushing chest pain radiating to left arm, diaphoretic, BP 190 over 110—"
"Trauma 2," you called out, already pulling on gloves as you moved alongside the gurney. "Let's get an EKG, CBC, and get cardiology on the phone. Someone page Dr. Shen."
The organized chaos that followed was the kind of thing that made you feel most alive. Your hands moved with practiced precision—starting an IV line, ordering medications, interpreting the EKG strips as they printed out in real-time. Around you, the night shift team moved like a well-oiled machine, and you had to admit, they were good. Really good. Especially Dr. Parker Ellis.
Dr. Shen appeared at your elbow, his black hair slightly mussed from whatever he'd been doing before the page. "What've we got?"
"STEMI” you said, pointing to the EKG. "ST elevation in leads II, III, and aVF. Inferior wall MI. He needs the cath lab."
"Good catch," Shen said, already pulling out his phone. "I'll get them prepped."
The patient was stabilizing, his irregular rhythm gradually evening out under your expert guidance. What youu didn't know was that in the break room , a very different kind of conversation was taking place.
Dr. Walsh leaned against the counter, arms crossed, watching through the window as you and Parker worked in perfect synchronization. "Okay, I'm calling it. She's definitely into women."
"You can't know that," said Yolanda, though she didn't sound convinced. "She could be straight. Some military women just have that... vibe."
"That vibe?" Ella, one of the physician assistants, raised an eyebrow. "You mean the competent, doesn't-take-shit-from-anyone, looks good in tactical boots vibe?"
"I'm just saying, we can't assume—"
"We know she's queer," Walsh interrupted. "The question is where she lands on the spectrum. My money's on lesbian."
"I'm betting bi," said one of the medical assistants from the back. "Or maybe pan. She's got that energy."
"I'm going with poly," another voice chimed in. "She seems like someone who doesn't believe in conventional relationship structures."
Dr. Jack Abbot, who'd been quietly eating a turkey sandwich in the corner, looked up with a confused expression. "I don't know what any of that means. I'm not woke enough for this conversation." He paused, then added hopefully, "Which one means I have a chance with her?"
The room erupted in laughter, and Walsh patted him on the shoulder. "Oh, Jack. Sweet, delusional Jack."
"What? She smiled at me yesterday!"
"She smiles at everyone, you idiot. She's nice."
"But it was a special smile—"
"It wasn't."
Ella pulled out a crumpled piece of paper from her pocket, smoothing it out on the counter. "Okay, we need to make this official. Current pot is at... Jesus, $347? Who put in a hundred bucks?"
"That was me," Shen said, appearing in the doorway. "I'm confident in my assessment."
"Which is?"
"Bisexual, currently single, not looking for anything serious." He paused. "Also, this is deeply unprofessional and we should all be ashamed of ourselves."
"And yet here you are, a hundred dollars deep in the pot," Walsh pointed out.
"I contain multitudes," Shen said with a shrug. "Don't judge me."
Ella started writing down names and bets. "Okay, so we've got Walsh on lesbian, Yolanda on straight, I'm going with bi, Donahue is betting poly, Shen's also on bi but single, Jack thinks he has a chance which isn't technically a sexuality but I'm writing it down anyway—"
"This is ridiculous," Parker said from the doorway, and everyone jumped. None of them had heard her come in. "You're all acting like children."
"Says the woman who's been making eyes at her for the past week," Walsh shot back.
Parker's visibly jaw tightened. "I haven't been—"
"Please. You practically trip over yourself whenever she walks into a room." Ella said.
"That's not—" Parker stopped, took a breath. "Look, even if I was interested, which I'm not saying I am, this whole betting pool thing is gross. She's our colleague. She deserves respect."
"It's harmless fun," Yolanda protested.
"Is it? How would you feel if you found out everyone was speculatting about your personal life and taking bets on it?"
The room fell silent, and several people had the grace to look uncomfortable.
"I'm out," Parker said firmly. "And you should all be too."
But as she walked away, Ella quietly added Parker's name to the list anyway, with a question mark and “$50” next to it. Because the thing about Parker Ellis was that she was a terrible liar, and everyone in that room had seen the way she looked at you when she thought no one was watching.
The rest of the shift passed in the usual blur of traumas, heart attacks, strokes, and the occasional person who'd decided that 4 AM was the perfect time to come to the ED for a cough they'd had for three weeks. Even in the blur, you were aware of the way people kept looking at you. Little glances when they thought you weren't paying attention, conversations that stopped abruptly when you walked into a room, the way Jack Abbot kept finding excuses to work on cases with you.
"Am I growing a second head or something??" you finally asked Shen as you stood at the nurses' station, both of you charting.
"What? No, why?"
"Everyone keeps staring at me." you said.
Shen's fingers froze on his keyboard for just a fraction of a second, barely noticeable, but you'd been trained to notice everything. "You're imagining things," he said, his tone just a little too squeaky. "You're the new person. People are still getting used to you."
"I've been here a week…," you said watching him.
"Night shift moves slow. We're still sizing you up."
You narrowed your eyes at him, but before you could press further, a nurse called out that they had a patient in respiratory distress in Trauma 4, and the conversation was forgotten in the rush to intubate and stabilize.
⋆。˚☤🩺✧˖°.
Later, as you were grabbing your bag from your locker at the end of shift, Parker appeared beside you.
"Hey," Parker said, and there was something nervous in her voice that you hadn't heard before. "You did good work tonight. That STEMI save was impressive."
"Thanks," you said, slinging your bag over your shoulder. "You too. That intubation in Trauma 4 was tricky."
"Yeah, well, I've had practice." Parker hesitated, then said, "Look, I know you're private about your personal life, and I respect that. But if you ever want to grab coffee or something, I'd be up for it."
You studied her for a moment, taking in the way Parker was trying very hard to look casual and failing spectacularly. There was something sweet about it, something that made you want to say yes even though every instinct you had told you to maintain your boundaries.
"Coffee sounds good," you heard yourself say, and the smile that broke across Parker's face was worth the small flutter of anxiety in your chest.
"Yeah? Great. I mean, cool. I know a place that's open early, if you want to go now?"
"I need to sleep," you said with a laugh. "But maybe after our next shift?"
"It's a date," Parker said, then immediately looked horrified. "I mean, not a date date, just a... you know what, I'm going to stop talking now."
You smiled, genuinely amused. "After our next shift, Parker. I'll see you then."
As you walked out to your car, you found yourself looking forward to it more than you probably should. Parker was attractive, funny, competent—all things that you appreciated in a person. And if there was a small voice in the back of your head warning you about getting involved with a coworker, well, it was just coffee. What was the harm in that?
Three shifts later, you found yourself in the drivers seat of your car in the hospital parking lot... Parker's mouth hot against your neck, your hands tangled in Parker's hair.
"We shouldn't be doing this," Parker murmured against your skin, even as her hands slid under your scrub top.
"Probably not," you agreed, your breath hitching as Parker's teeth grazed your collarbone. "We should stop."
"We should definitely stop."
Neither of you stopped.
It had started innocently enough. Parker was walking you to your car. Which had turned into a kiss that was supposed to be brief and chaste but had quickly become anything but. You two barely made it inside your car before Parker's hands were in your hair and yours were fisted in her shirt, pulling her closer and closer.
You were straddling her lap in the reclined driver's seat. The space was tight, cramped, your knees pressed against the door and the console, but you didn't care. All you cared about was the way Parker's hands felt on your waist, the way she was looking at you like you were something precious.
"God, you're beautiful," Parker said, her voice rough with want. One hand came up to cup your face, her thumb tracing your swollen bottom lip. "I've wanted to do this since the moment I met you."
The kiss was different this time. You felt her tongue going deeper, hungrier almost. Parker's tongue swept into your mouth and you moaned, your hips rolling forward. Her hands tightened on your waist, holding you steady. You kissed her harder, your fingers threading through her hair, tugging just slightly.
She groaned, and the sound went straight through you, heat pooling low in your belly. Her hands slid under your scrub top, palms warm against your skin, and you gasped into her mouth. One of her hands slid up your back, the other stayed at your hip, thumb rubbing small circles through the fabric of your scrubs.
You broke the kiss to gasp for air, your forehead resting against hers. The windows were completely fogged now, the world outside reduced to blurred shapes and distant lights. It felt like you were the only two people in existence.
"Parker," you whispered, and she kissed you again, softer this time, almost tender.
"Tell me what you need," she said against your lips.
"You," you said simply. "I need you."
Her hand slid from your hip to your thigh, fingers tracing patterns that made you shiver.
"Please," you said, and the word came out more desperate than you'd intended.
Parker's hand moved slowly, deliberately, giving you time to change your mind. But you didn't want to change your mind. You wanted this, wanted her, had been wanting this since that first night in the break room when she'd smiled at you like you were worth knowing.
Her fingers found the waistband of your scrub pants, and she paused, looking up at you. "You're sure?"
"I'm sure," you said, and rolled your hips forward to prove it.
She groaned, her free hand coming up to tangle in your hair, pulling you down into another kiss as her other hand slipped beneath your waistband, beneath your underwear. You gasped against her mouth when her fingers found you, already wet, already ready for her.
"Fuck," Parker breathed, her forehead pressed against yours. "You're so wet for me."
"Parker," you moaned, your hips moving of their own accord, seeking more friction, more pressure, more of her.
"I know," she said softly, her fingers moving in slow, teasing circles. "I know, baby. I've got you."
The endearment made something in your chest tighten even as your body loosened, opening for her. Her fingers explored you with careful precision, learning what made you gasp, what made you moan, and what made your thighs tremble.
"More," you gasped, your hands clutching at her shoulders. "Please, Parker, I need—"
"I know what you need," she said, and slid one finger inside you.
You cried out, your head falling back, and Parker's hand in your hair tightened, holding you steady. "Look at me," she said, her voice firm but gentle. "I want to see you."
You forced your eyes open, meeting her gaze. The intensity there nearly undid you—desire, yes, but also something softer, something that looked almost like reverence.
"There you are," she said, and added a second finger, curling them just right.
"Oh god," you moaned, your hips rocking against her hand. "Park–"
"That's it," she encouraged, her thumb finding your clit, circling it in time with the thrust of her fingers. "Take what you need. I want to watch you come apart for me."
"You're doing so good," she murmured, pressing kisses to your jaw, your neck, anywhere she could reach. "So beautiful like this. So perfect."
The praise, the permission, the way she was looking at you like you were the most incredible thing she'd ever seen. It was too much. Your movements became more frantic, chasing the pleasure building inside you, and Parker matched your rhythm, her fingers moving faster, harder, exactly how you needed.
"You're so close," she said, her voice rough. "I can feel you. You gonna come for me?”
Her fingers curled inside you again, her thumb pressed down on your clit, and you shattered. Your orgasm crashed over you in waves, your body trembling, Parker's name falling from your lips like a prayer. She worked you through it, her movements gentling as you came down, her free hand stroking your back, your hair, murmuring soft words of praise that you couldn't quite make out over the rushing in your ears.
When you finally stilled, boneless and sated in her lap, she carefully withdrew her hand, pressing a soft kiss to your temple. "You okay?" she asked quietly.
"Yeah," you managed, your voice hoarse. "More than okay."
She smiled, that soft, genuine smile that had first caught your attention, and pulled you down into a slow, sweet kiss that tasted like promises neither of you were quite ready to make.
Later you sat in the reclined seats, both of you trying to catch your breath, the windows fogged up around you. Your head rested on Parker's shoulder, your fingers tracing idle patterns on Parker's arm.
"So," Parker said, her voice rough. "That was..."
"Yeah."
"We should probably talk about what this means."
You lifted your head to look at her. "Does it have to mean anything?"
Parker's expression was hard to read in the dim light of the parking lot. "I guess not. I just... I don't usually do casual."
"And I don't usually do coworkers," you said honestly. "So maybe we're both out of our depth here."
"Maybe." Parker was quiet for a moment, then said, "I like you. I want to be clear about that. This isn't just... I mean, it's not nothing to me."
You felt somethhing warm in your chest, something that might have been hope or might have been fear or might have been both. "It's not nothing to me either," you admitted. "But I also think we need to be smart about this. We work together. The night shift is small. If this goes wrong..."
"It won't go wrong." Parker said.
"You can't know that."
"No," Parker agreed. "But I can hope." She pressed a kiss to your forehead. "How about we keep this between us for now. No need to broadcast it to the whole ED. We take it slow, see where it goes, and if it doesn't work out, we're both adults who can handle it professionally."
It was exactly what you would have suggested if Parker hadn't said it first.
"Okay," you said. "Between us."
"Between us," Parker echoed, and sealed it with a kiss.
Over the next few weeks, you were careful. So careful. You didn't arrive or leave together. You didn't seek each other out more than normal. You kept your interactions professional, brief, and clinical.
But there were stolen moments in empty hallways, quick kisses in supply closets, heated glances across the ED that made your pulse race. It was exhilarating and terrifying in equal measure, and you found yourself thinking about Parker at odd moments. Like while you were driving home, while you were trying to sleep, while you were in the middle of treating a patient and really should have been focused on anything else.
You knew you were in trouble. But you couldn't seem to make yourself care. Neither of you knew that the betting pool was still going strong. That every shift, people were adding to the pot, changing their bets, speculating endlessly about your personal life.
And that very soon, everything was about to come crashing down.
❥・summary; headcanons of parker ellis as your wife.
❥・tags/warnings; fluff, some mentions of illness and injury, sooome hurt/comfort, slight crack, domesticity.
❥・wc; 1.2k
wife!parker who is so utterly proud to call you hers. she shows you off at every chance she gets. someone glances at her lockscreen and she smirks a little to herself before saying, “mhm, my wife.”
wife!parker who also reminds you how proud she is to call you hers- she sneaks up behind you while you’re doing laundry to pepper sweet kisses on your cheeks, relishing in your giggles as she whispers soft words into your skin. “mine, all mine.” she’ll also bring you breakfast in bed every now and again and put little smiley faces and hearts on your eggs in ketchup (if you like that, LOL). many people would think she’s too old and hardened for that kind of thing, but you know she isn’t.
wife!parker who can get a liiittle bit possessive. a little jealous, too. she trusts that your friendships won’t cross lines, but seeing you cozy up with other women makes something stir within her. even if it seems like innocent bantering or you just putting your head on a colleague’s shoulder, she marches over to take your arm and lightly tug on it. a silent ‘we’re done.’ you’re the best thing parker has in her life, and she’ll be damned if she doesn’t shout that from the rooftops.
wife!parker who is only ever soft around you. working in the medical field is bound to change somebody, and it definitely has hardened her around the edges. whenever you’re alone together, though, the woman enjoys resting her head on your lap and letting her body relax as your fingers card through her locs. she loves to call you after her shifts, tense and on edge, and the second she hears you call her “baby,” all of it melts away.
wife!parker who has her phone on do not disturb for everyone except for you. while she won’t pick up in the middle of surgery, of course, if she has a moment and her phone chimes, she’ll hurry into a corner to text you back. honestly, she feels like a teenager in her first relationship sometimes.
wife!parker who worries herself sick about you. “babe, i’m okay,” you’ll insist, but she’ll shake her head and huff. “you gotta let me do something for you, love.”
wife!parker who knows you like the back of her hand. she knows what you like- your favorite songs, your favorite authors, your favorite spots around pittsburgh, while also knowing what makes you turn your nose up and scoff. parker also knows how to read your body language like it’s second nature. the second you start unconsciously signaling that you’re tired, she’ll start wrapping up whatever the two of you were doing. when your voice raises in tone the way it only does when you’re genuinely happy, her heart soars.
wife!parker who can tell when anything is wrong, as well. whether that be with your health or your mood overall. if you wince after a movement, she jumps into full doctor mode, asking you what’s wrong and what you’ve done to tweak the muscle. “i’m not sure,” you murmur, and she just breathes out through her nose, pressing her lips together. “that’s okay. we’ll get it figured out.”
wife!parker who has genuinely debated getting your name tattooed on her- either across her hip, on one of her forearms, or on her ribs. you may think that getting anyone’s name tattooed is a bad omen, but she sees it as a sign of devotion. she says she’d get your name tattooed on her forehead if she wouldn’t get judged for it. you can never tell if she’s joking or serious. maybe a little bit of both.
wife!parker who can’t contain her excitement when you say you want a matching tattoo with her. the two of you settled on a rather simple design, yet still something that’s meaningful. you decided to go first, and she held your hand the whole time, unable to keep herself from smiling. she barely flinched in the chair, but you still held onto her just in case she needed the support. she isn’t sure you understand how much she appreciates it.
wife!parker who keeps a photo of you in her wallet. you’re also her lockscreen, but she does believe that carrying that picture of the two of you, hand in hand and smiling ear to ear on your wedding day brings her good luck.
wife!parker who loves when you come to the gym with her. she’s a pretty casual lifter, but if you wanted to spot her or simply watch her, she’s ecstatic. even better if you also work out or you want to learn some stuff from her!
wife!parker who sleeps like a rock. working the night shift isn’t for the weak, and she’s often unable to get a decent amount of sleep before she has to come home, even if a room is open. so when she finds you at home, curled up with a book or your phone, she snuggles up next to you and falls right asleep. barely moves, but probably snores LOL.
wife!parker who loves seeing you in her clothes. “just when i thought you couldn’t get more beautiful,” she’ll murmur, running her calloused hand along your waist. “you prove me wrong.”
wife!parker who brags about you at work. shows off that very wallet picture, but doesn’t just talk about how pretty you are, or what you do for her. she speaks of your attributes first and foremost. how hard you work, how kind you are, how firm you stand in your values, the like.
wife!parker who regularly comes home with takeout from your favorite restaurant. even if she despises the place, she’ll do anything to see the way your face lights up when you’re greeted by that familiar smell.
wife!parker who washes your hair when you’re too tired to do it yourself. she finds it relaxing, and always relishes in the relaxation evident on you when she does it.. you letting out a deep sigh as she massages your scalp and smiling softly as the water rinses over your hair. “feel good, baby?” she’ll murmur, and you always give a quiet ‘mhm.’
wife!parker who is a huge animal lover. the second you moved in together while you were still dating, she wanted to go to the shelter to get a cat. the two of you both fell in love with a sweet yet sassy tortoiseshell. it took her a little while to get acclimated to a new environment, but she fit right in. sometimes you joke that she likes parker more than you, on account of how often you find them snuggled up together. parker affectionately refers to your cat as ‘our daughter.’
wife!parker who never lets you go to bed upset. it doesn’t happen often, but it’s a given that you’ll have disagreements every now and again. she’s very stern when she tells you that you need to get this figured out, and quickly. parker has never shied away from taking accountability and working to be better for you if it was her fault, but she’s also not afraid to tell you if something you’ve done hurt her. either way, she’s very good at conflict resolution.
wife!parker who always says “i love you” upon parting. she gives you a gentle peck before having to leave for work, a squeeze as she drops you off for your appointments. where some people feel that words lose their meaning after a while, parker means every “i love you” more than the last.

“ Ow ! “ You probably hear say it for the fourth time already and she tries to turn around and shoot you one of her offended gaze but you’re quick to replace her head straight. She grunts and roll her eyes. “ Did you use to make her suffer like that too or it’s just me you love to torture ?”
You huff and scoop some more gel onto your fingers. Used to the activity, your wrists are quick to work and in less than one minute you’re already done with the loc you had difficulty twisting for the past five minutes because of your girlfriend. She didn’t even know you could retwist locs until a few months ago and since then you into her personal hairstylist.
“ FYI, she didn’t move as much as you do now. And stay still babe.” You replace her head again. Parker had a way to never stand still while you did her hair. It didn’t bother you that much. But she wanted to be done with quickly, patience had to stand in her way a while longer than she wanted to.
“ Damn. My old hairstylist wasn’t that strict.” The older woman complains. You pull on her loc a bit too hard, she grunts as her head tips back against the edge of the couch and her puzzled boba eyes are met with the innocent smile on your lips.
“ I should just start charging you for saying that.”
“ Hmm.” It’s her turn to time and you already feel the tension between you too shift. “ I don’t have anything on me right now. But I sure can give you something else, baby.”
A laugh escapes your mouth and you lean to kiss the smirk pulling at the corner of her mouth. “ I’m sure we can. But after I’m done with your hair.”

Summary: you always miss Parker whenever she's gone off to work, and she feels the exact same way that you do
Warnings/contains: canon typical mentions of hospital related work such as surgeries, yearning, domestic fluff, Parker calls the reader by the petname "baby" a lot here, brief mentions of eating, nonsexual nudity, slight suggestiveness, cuddling
Prompts used: ꒰ D ꒱ a pair of pyjama bottoms, ꒰ 𓆉 ꒱ a can of redbull, and ꒰ 5 ꒱ "I miss you so much, it's killing me" from this prompt list
Beginning notes: funny how I was initially scared to write for her for worry of characterizing her wrong and now she won't leave my mind
Parker was used to pulling doubles, or sleeping at the hospital during the day so she could be there the moment it was time for her shift to start. Until she met you, that is, and her priorities changed. Now she slept in an actual bed every day if possible, with you tucked snugly between her arms.
It was hard not to think about you when she was supposed to be working, which is why she liked to check her phone as often as she could. Not in a needy or clingy way, she just wanted to be sure that you were doing alright.
Nearly every time she checked her messages right after arriving to work, there'd be a text from you, wishing her good luck during her shift and saying that you couldn't wait to see her when she got home. Even if she didn't respond (which was rare, as she always did her best to send a text back, even if it was just a simple "thanks baby, I love you"), your messages were hearted to show that she saw them and was grateful that you cared about her so much.
That shift had been particularly brutal. A seven car pile-up meant multiple surgeries back-to-back with very little time to breathe in between them. By the time she finally got the chance to look over her messages, you'd already taken the initiative to send her one first.
You: I miss you so much, it's killing me
That actually managed to bring a smile to her face, albeit a tired one. She did her best to type back a reply despite her vision blurring with exhaustion.
Parker: miss you too, baby. I'll be home soon, don't worry
Upon pressing send, she repocketed her phone and went to search for a can of Redbull in the breakroom to give her a much needed boost of energy before she had to deal with her next patients.
By the time she made it back home early the next day, she was beat, feeling as though she could collapse as soon as she walked in the door. You were already there, waiting for her with open arms and a warm smile on your face.
"I missed you," came the muffled sentence from where you had your face pressed insistently into her tank top, arms wrapped tightly around her as though you feared she might turn around and head back to work again should you let go.
"I know, baby. Missed you, too," she murmured out affectionately, watching you with a fond gaze as the corners of her lips quirked upwards into a faint grin of her own. The most she ever smiled like that was with you, a fact Shen always had to point out whenever you came to pick her up from work.
"Do you wanna go cuddle in bed for a bit before grabbing something to eat?" You questioned while continuing to cling onto her even as she tried to make her way through the apartment to the bedroom.
Parker let out a soft laugh as she attempted to wiggle out of your grip. "Alright, if you insist. So long as you let go of me long enough for me to change," she lightly teased while gently unwrapping your arms from around her torso. At the pout given to her in response, she just sighed endearingly and leaned in to place a gentle kiss to your forehead. "I know you missed me. Believe me, I was missing my baby, too. But you've gotta let me change."
A huff of displeasure escaped you at that, but you nodded your head in understanding regardless, mumbling out a pitiful "okaayyyy" as you started to drag your feet to the bedroom. You walked only a little before stopping and looking over your shoulder to ensure she was following behind.
She rolled her eyes affectionately and gave your arm a light nudge with her elbow. "C'mon, c'mon, let's go. The sooner I get changed, the sooner you can latch back onto me again. How's that sound, hm?"
No sooner had the words left her mouth did you instantly pick up the pace, practically dashing into the bedroom. You moved so quickly, she heard a faint thudding sound from the impact of your body hitting the mattress as you leapt excitedly onto the bed.
That just caused her to shake her head fondly as she leisurely entered the area after you, dropping her bag on the floor and beginning to slowly putter around the room, searching for clothes to wear. You blatantly watched her as she got undressed from what she wore leaving the hospital, unable to stop your gaze from lingering on the muscles of her biceps and her toned abs as she pulled her sleepwear on.
"See something you like?" Parker's voice cut through the otherwise quiet room, a cocky smirk on her face as she tugged her pair of pajama bottoms up over her boxers.
"So what if I do?" You shot back playfully, giggling when she tossed the pants of her scrubs in your direction; you bat them off to the side midair, and they fell to the floor in a crumpled heap. "Come cuddle now," you commanded while opening your arms again, just like you did when she first arrived home.
Still smirking, she made her way over to the bed and slipped onto the mattress beside you, allowing your arms to latch onto her in a manner that was almost possessive in nature. "Someone's clingy," she commented while observing the way you got comfortable as you buried your face into her chest and threw a leg over both of hers.
"You were gone all night," you replied matter-of-factly, as though that explained everything (and in a way, it honestly did). That answer seemed to satisfy her regardless, because she simply sighed and tugged you closer, her own arms now wrapping around your body in turn.
"I know I was, baby," she hummed in a low and soothing tone, a hand rubbing slow circles to your back while she spoke. "But I'm here now, and I'm not going anywhere until my next shift. So for now, let's just try to make the most of it, hm?"
And make the most of it you did, cuddling in bed until you both fell asleep and ordering takeout later after you woke again, eating together in the living room while watching reruns of some old sitcom that was playing on the TV. Parker always enjoyed getting the time with you that she did, especially when she spent her entire shift missing you, missing her baby.
End notes: I wrote this when I was half asleep and even after proofreading it idk how good it is but hopefully y'all enjoy

dr. parker ellis x gf!reader — takes place in the universe of edge of the earth.
it's a rare type of quiet in the pitt when you're finally settled in a spare wheely chair beside lena at the central hub, making yourself comfortable while you wait out the final hour of parker's night shift. you're a familiar face at this point with dr. abbot's nightcrawlers, always perking up the ED whenever you arrive with your arms laden with gifts.
("baby, stop spoiling my coworkers. they don't deserve you."
"they work so hard, babe! they at least deserve coffee.")
tonight, you've handed out a box of donuts and bottles of cold brew before you take your usual spot at the nurse's station. the different staff make sure to greet you as they pass but parker settles onto the counter, leaning over and you close the distance with a sweet kiss.
"hi, pretty girl. you doin' okay?" she murmurs against your lips.
you try your best to kiss back but your smile's too wide. "mhm. i'd kill for a sprite though— oh!"
without a second to spare, parker hands over an ice-cold can, chuckling at the utter delight as you attempt to open it. "hold on—" she takes it from you and does it herself, sparing your pretty nails the opportunity to chip in the face of your excitement. "come on, baby, you know that's my job. you just got your nails done."
"yuck."
the two of you turn in unison to see trinity dramatically gag. "that's homophobic of you, santos," parker remarks, her voice dry.
"it isn't homophobic, it's me being anti-whatever the hell it is you two got," she mutters but there's a light in her eye that tells you it's good old-fashioned jealousy rather than actually despising your public display of affection.
you grin and tug parker closer for an obnoxiously loud smooch. "mmmwah—!"
lena snorts at the way trinity playfully trudges off. "you two are downright adorable," she chuckles. "now keep that shit to yourself, you're still on the clock, ellis."
parker lets out a low laugh and pinches your chin, planting one last kiss onto your lips. "i'll be done soon, pretty. holler if you need anything though?"
something something parker ellis coming home to a sickly, sleepy darling?
Parker entered the apartment after her shift, getting released early at 4 am. She steps into her apartment, seeing you, her pretty little thing, sprawled across the bed, Milo, the ginger cat that she had adopted, curling up to you.
“Hey, little sunshine..”
She whispers, leaning closer to give you a quick peck on the forehead.
You were way younger than she was, a junior at Carnegie studying visual arts. You had met her at one of the bars nearby, on your 21st, tripping into her arms as you shyly flustered, caught off guard by her dominance.
“Hm-”
You shift in your sleep, sleepily smiling when you feel her lips on your forehead. Parker, however, pauses when she thinks about how warm your forehead was, and the way that you were in your plaid pajama shorts and one of her shirts during the Pittsburgh winter.
“You hot, little sun?”
She asks, pressing a hand over your forehead and on your neck. You crack your eyes open gently, smiling gently,
“lovie! You’re home early….”
You croak out, your voice raspy, and immediately channel something protective in Parker, as she reaches for her bag and the first aid kit she kept in her bag.
“You feelin’ okay, little sun?”
She leans in, pressing a thermometer to your forehead, as you try to turn and go back to sleep,
“w-what’re you doin’ lovie? ‘m wanna sleep..”
You murmur, as the thermometer beeps, showing Parker that you had a fever. She sighs softly, grabs her otoscope, and shines it in your eyes,
“Can you open your eyes for me, little sun?”
You open them, with a groan, squinting at her,
“Too bright.”
You whine, hiding in her shoulders as she nods, pulling you onto her lap so she can tilt your head onto her shoulder, so she can check your ears.
“I know, I know..”
She murmurs as you whine at the sensation. Parker knew that you hated doctors or anything remotely medical, and on top of that, it was really early in the morning.
You rest against her as she presses the bell of her stethoscope to your chest, listening to your coughs,
“Hm, this doesn’t sound good, little sun.”
She changes your positioning, lightly palpating your lymph nodes, as you whine when she reaches the one behind your ear,
“hurts…”
“I know, I know…”
Parker whispers, letting you curl into her chest, rubbing your back. She reaches over, grabs a fever reducer, and pours it out into the measuring cup, grinning as she sees your face twist,
“I know you don’t like it, little star, but something’s got to be done about your fever. Just this, and then you can chase it down with your water, hm?”
You look at the purple grape flavor liquid, face turning in disgust,
“It tastes disgusting, lovie.”
But your hands grasp your water bottle, taking the medication with a gag, gulping down water immediately after.
“You’re evil.”
You whisper against Parker’s chest, the medication kicking in and making you drowsy. You feel Parker’s chest vibrate with a chuckle as she leans both of you down in bed, wrapping an arm around your waist,
“Tell me all about it when you’re more awake, hm? We can have some coffee and make waffles.”
You hum, eyes slowly drifting shut,
“Sounds good, lovie…yummy too.”
so....i'm back? maybe? or this is maybe from the sudden amount of inspo I had from seeing parker in the second season of the pitt. also! so sad to see that there's no al-hashimi fic yet (sighs) but that's okay! all the more reason for me to write it!
cw : gn!reader, fluff, major flirting, reader being down bad, swearing, one pet name (babe), first time writing for ellis so may be ooc, unedited, 620 words. requested !
summary : parker flirts with you when you run into her outside of the hospital for the first time.
running into ellis in the strip district is a lot less sexy than it sounds. primarily because the strip has nothing to do with stripping at all, and much more with shopping, restaurants, and hard-to-find parking. it's extra unsexy because she catches you fumbling with overfilled reusable bags as you exit the korean grocery store.
today has been a restock for all the shops in the strip, which means you've already stopped at the reyna's for all your latin cooking needs too, and you definitely should've dropped those groceries off in your car first. that means you nearly drop at least three heavy bags when you hear your last name spoken in the voice of the woman that you, a grown adult, have a raging crush on.
it's strange to hear outside of the hospital. you whip your head around to face her voice—to face her—you'd been looking back to say a final goodbye to the kind shop owners.
"ellis," you grin, embarrassingly breathless just from the sight of her. she's in dark grey jeans and a crew neck sweatshirt to match the early fall weather. you thought she was hot in scrubs, but, god, this? this could cause you to go into cardiac arrest. at least she's a doctor.
she grabs two bags from you with deft hands, the movement so impressively easy and smooth with the way she doesn't break eye contact with you for even a moment. it makes your brain go all fuzzy. so fuzzy that you don't quite catch what she says to you next.
you blink twice, then give a weak, "huh? uh— thanks, ellis, you don't have to—"
she laughs, teasing in the good-natured kind of way, and you go quiet again just to hear the sound better.
"i said you should call me parker outside the hospital. inside too, if you want." she doesn't even say anything about the bags, but she's looking at you like carrying them for you is her new favorite hobby.
honestly, it just might be. she's hoping it'll happen again, more than once or twice if she can help it.
"parker," you repeat, her first name a bit clumsy on your tongue like the bags in your hands. but you like it anyway; it's heavy in the way that it means something. there's substance to it, you think. she doesn't say it casually, she says it like she wants you to dip your spoon into it, put it in your mouth, and chew until you're full.
parker wants you to call her by her first name because she doesn't want to just be your coworker.
"yeah." her smile is lopsided, like when she cocks her head to one side, her lips stretch in that same direction. it's a genuinely pleased smile in the shape of a smirk. now that's sexy. "you done shopping, babe?" she asks, using the pet name as unabashedly as she does nearly everything she's ever done. she calls you that because she doesn't want to use your last name again, but you haven't told her to use your first yet. and she gets to get away with it because friends say stuff like that all the time.
you, on the other hand, feel like you haven't gotten away with anything at all this whole time, because you nearly choke at the word 'babe'.
"uh-huh."
and that feels like too lacking a response, so you finally snap out of the shock of her flirting so blatantly with you enough to start flirting back. "yeah, parker, you gonna walk me back to my car?"
"wouldn't dream of doing anything else."
fuck. tomorrow's night shift is about to be a new kind of distracting.
