Harry’s face lit up as he saw Draco enter the stadium hand in hand with Pansy.
“You came!” Harry cried as he pushed himself off the wall he was leaning on.
“Of course I came, Potter. I’m covering the game for The Quibbler and my girlfriend is a huge Falcons fan, I wouldn’t miss this match for anything,” Pansy teased.
“Oh, hey Pansy, didn’t see you there.” Harry quipped, placing a kiss on Luna's cheek.
Pansy flipped him off and Draco chuckled as the four of them headed to their seats after saying their hellos.
Once they’d settled in, Harry went and bought some popcorn, and a few bars of Honeydukes chocolates - Draco’s favourites. When he got back, he found Draco and Pansy engrossed in watching the commercials on the magitron. It was a new technology that the wizarding world had borrowed from the muggles; a magnified screen, where the game and commercials were projected.
Luna had a huge falcon head hat placed precariously on her hair and was serenely looking at the teams warming up on the pitch. Harry smiled fondly before reclaiming his seat next to Draco.
It was a tense match but Harry seemed to be concentrating elsewhere. His eyes were focussed on the blond seated next to him, taking in all the little gasps and expressions he made.
Around 40 minutes into the game, the Captain of the Falmouth Falcons called for a timeout.
Pansy left her seat. “I’ll be back. I think I saw a work contact. I’ll just say hello.” She hurried away before anyone could object.
“Chocolate?” Harry offered Draco a bar and watched his face light up. Harry took delight in putting that smile there, when suddenly there was loud cheering all around.
“Oh!” Draco squeaked and Harry felt the urge to smooth away the crease between his brows. He turned his head, wondering what had caused such a reaction, and there it was!
On the magitron encased in a pink heart were Harry and Draco, with the word KISS in bold letters, a pair of lips pulsing beneath the banner.
They were on the kiss cam! Another muggle game tradition that the wizarding world had wholeheartedly adopted.
Harry turned back to look at Draco, who was staring at his lap and blushing beet red. His heart sank but he shook his head and was met with boos as the camera moved on to another couple who enthusiastically kissed amidst cheering.
After a few minutes, the camera zoomed in on them again. Harry groaned and shook his head as Draco covered his face.
“There seems to be an infestation of glimpys, here. They come when there is unresolved sexual tension around.” Luna explained placidly.
Draco’s face was on fire and Harry choked on his own spit, setting off a coughing fit.
The cameraman took pity on them and moved on to another high-profile couple. Cho Chang, Seeker for the Wimbourne Wasps, was here with Fleur Delacour. Cho placed a sweet kiss on her wife’s cheek and the crowd went crazy.
A couple of commercials later, the kiss cam was back on them and Draco huffed exasperatedly, “Oh for Merlin’s sake!”
Harry looked longingly at him from the corner of his eye. He shook his head and silently mouthed ‘no’ to the camera. Suddenly Harry felt a tug on his collar and a pair of soft lips met his.
For all the rashness of the action, their kiss was slow and sweet. Harry gasped, pushing into Draco’s warm mouth, the cheering crowds fading away into the background.
When they finally broke apart, gasping for air, Pansy was grinning at them, while Luna clapped excitedly.
“The glimpys have flown away,” Luna said in her usual lilting way.
Pansy grinned, “The kiss cam moved on five minutes ago as well.”
When had she returned? Draco cleared his throat and looked straight ahead at the pitch. Harry also turned towards the game, but he kept touching his lips, unable to concentrate.
Draco nudged his shoulder. “Alright, Potter?”
“Uh yeah,” he replied, still in shock. After a few beats, he mused, “Wonder why the camera kept coming back to us?”
Draco simply shrugged and continued to watch the game.
A few minutes later, still avoiding Harry’s gaze, Draco took a deep breath and spoke, “I’m sorry if-”
“No!” Harry shouted. “I mean, it's okay… I liked it,” he continued shyly.
Draco looked at him, a soft smile on his face.
“Would you like to go to dinner with me after this?” Harry asked, channeling his inner Gryffindor.
“It’s a date!” Draco grinned, just as the crowd broke into raucous cheers.
The Falcon’s Seeker had caught the snitch. There was an air of euphoria throughout the stadium as Harry leapt from his seat and hugged Draco, though at that moment he really didn’t care who had won the game.
“Luna and I are meeting the team in the changing room, wanna come?” Pansy asked.
“Another time, Pans, I have a hot date tonight,” Draco drawled, winking at Harry.
The couple said their goodbyes and walked towards the exit.
Luna smiled at the new couple, as they left the stadium hand in hand.
“Be right back, babe,” Pansy said, kissing Luna’s cheek.
She waved and walked over to a cameraman standing in a corner. “Thank you, my good sir.” she smirked, handing him a bag of galleons.
