Say we did allow teachers to carry guns?Against: How would they carry them?For: In a holster all times?Against: What happens when a 5' 4" English teacher is over powered before she can get her gun by a larger faster student that is overly emotional about a class they are going to fail? Teacher Shot. Students possibly shot.For: Well then every room would be equipped with gun safes! They can keep them in a gun safe!Against: Okay, when a student/teacher that is in a homicidal mood happens to get access to the codes or key what happens? School shooting.For: Okay, then we can make sure theyre unloaded, and that the ammo is stored separately.Against: Ah, but when an active shooter situation occurs, teachers and staff loose precious time that could be spent rescuing children, finding the ammo and loading the gun. And if they're too slow and they shoot up an entire classroom in the mean time? Look at that! Free ammo to kill more people! I am disgusted by those who think that adding more flames to a forest fire, will create a solution. If you want to input veterans into our schools as a form of employment, and they agree, go for it. But don't do it with guns. Teach as part of their training how to disarm an active shooter without the use of a weapon that is built to cause grievous bodily harm to the people and creatures around them.
Do not bring guns into a place of growth and change and high emotions.
Some people may find guns fun or a necessity(hunting). They are neither fun nor necessary within our schools.
