#parrot ask

How would the allies react to their s/o having a parrot that mimics their moaning? I’m so sorry if this is too weird but this has happened to me once

(This is why the admins will never have a parrot -Admin Jay and Sarah)

America: “Seriously man? Not cool! Stop!”Alfred would turn bright red before glaring at the parrot as he groans. Of course, a parrot would. They were dicks. They enjoyed making others suffer. Alfred would walk up to the parrot and try to teach it any other word, soon he would be pleading with the parrot to say or do anything else. Just not that…

England: “Excuse you! That is so rude!”Arthur would be appalled at the parrots horrible manners. How dare they do such a thing? He would glare at the parrot and try to intimidate it, but soon would just try to teach it other words…if that didn’t work he would just set a radio near it and force it to listen to a day’s worth of music, that way it had to pick something else up right? That’s how this worked?…

France: “..Do I really sound like that?”Francis would walk past the parrot in the morning without thinking much about it, but as soon as he heard it moan..and sound like him…he’d stop before staring at the parrot and blinking. After hearing it again, he’d just stare…before shrugging. It was an amazing sound~ He’d also want his s/o to hear.

Canada: “O-Oh no…”Matthew would be enjoying his morning, but as soon as he hears the parrot moan like him, he’d jump up and blush deep red…no way a parrot can mimic him..! Oh, god…Why do these things happen to him?….It’s just a parrot, though..right?

Russia: “Huh? Why are you sounding like me?”Ivan would be the one to walk past, but as soon as the parrot moaned like him, he’d turn around and stare down the parrot…no one other than his s/o gets to hear that…would the parrot take a bribe of food? He’d hope so..

China: “What?! No! You hush!”Yao would walk by the parrot and hear that sound before freezing and whirling around. Once he found out it was the parrot he would turn bright red before pointing his finger at the parrot and lecturing it. He would want the parrot to say anything else, just not that! Yao would be so flustered and embarrassed he would be yelling at the parrot in English and Chinese, just to give it so many other things to say.

Hello! adopted a 12 year old cockatiel several months ago and when I got him he was supposedly tame but was incredibly vicious and showed signs of abuse. I am happy to report that after several months he is mostly tame I do have a an issue that I can't seem to break him of. He is very cage aggressive. Even if I walk by he cage he hisses and attempts to bite. Thanks!

Cage or territorial aggression can show up for many reasons, but generally its due to hormones.

He could have a favourite toy or just likes his cage as a ‘safe space’ where he feels comfortable and secure.

You’ll need to provide reassurance to him that you coming into contact with him near his cage is not a threat. Do this gradually, start ignoring his aggression and start focusing on the positive things. E.G; He comes up to you while in the cage and doesn’t react - you can give a reward.If he reacts to  you giving a reward - take a step back and try again until he learns your hand is giving him food.

To also help break this habit you’re going to need to make a few changes to his routine through changing the cage layout often - every 2 months or so .

This can include;

Daily rotation of toys 

Adding new perches

Changing positions of bowls

Adding various activities in the cage

So basically, you want to keep his mind off ‘protecting’ his area.

Another option is to provide a safe spaces outside of the cage - this can be in the form of a chair, on top of his cage or you can opt to buy a t-stand for him to use when out.

Always remember, persistence is vital for every interaction. You’ll soon see improvement and will be able to notice the difference when this does happen.
