2404: Goobert Flies Through a Blender Particle Simulation for @/doublee141 on Insta
So I could stomach more. Blender particle sims my beloved
A swarm of boids!
Today (by technicality of it being 4 in the morning upon completion) I managed to optimize some of the particles in Meegreef. Not only did I optimize the ray-casting (which was an embarrassing fix) to remove some CPU load, I also implemented (over the course of several grueling hours) frustum culling for the particles. The only optimization I can think of now is instanced rendering, but that's a (big) task for another time.
So I decided to try something cool. I present; Gravitational attractor particles!.... Basically, every particle is simulated as a gravitational attractor with real life gravity calculations (each particle is ~500,000kg to ~825,000kg) and I think the result is simply beautiful. There's rare times in my experience where programming just... clicks. Into something more beautiful than I could imagine. Just knowing it's like 5 lines of code to generate such intricate chaos, it's mind blowing.
The textures were borrowed from the always lovely Jenifar Shifaketro, and they fit quite nicely for the visuals.
Another good thing to come out of this is that with frustum culling, I can test against the bounding boxes of chunks to not use draw calls for them. It's a win on all fronts! The only loss here is that I decided to post it to tumblr via GIF.
FumeFx projects [Work in progress]
Wanted to bring some kind of context to my term 2 major work, so i wanted to sell the idea of the world being windy

t=0.145付近でも時間刻み幅の切り直しが観測できました。
t=0.09付近でも速度が急に落ちる場所がありますが、こちらは時間刻みの調節とは関係ないようです。
