Roland's on a roll
R: can we go see Santa?
Me: no. Thanksgiving is first. Why do you need to see Santa?
R: I need a candy cane.
Me: he definitely has candy canes. Are you going to ask him for anything else?
R: yeah, we can go snowboarding!
I knew it...
My boyfriend is a hardcore party kid. I knew that when I met him and I knew what party kids did. Party. He’s into everything. Drinking, smoking and drugs. I knew that all going into the relationship. Yet here I am still pissed the fuck off that the one weekend I get to see him this entire month, he’s high off of pills, weed and alcohol, all at the same time. He didn’t remember what happened after 7 pm on both nights. I was livid. How could he waste the two days he had with me so he could be out of his mind partying? When I told him I was mad about it he said he could stop anytime. That he’d do whatever to keep me. Yeah, I had heard that from guys before and long story short, nothing changed. He’s into a lot of sketchy shit. So I asked him to stop doing pills. I knew he couldn’t stop everything cold turkey. It’d make his life miserable. All his friends do is party. I would be the reason for him to quit. I’d be his Yoko Ono. I’m so lost on what to do now. I know he won’t stop. He’s been partying for at least 6 years now. I can’t change him. He’s going to do whatever he wants. Even if that means taking pills, drinking smoking weed and not remembering a whole night. That scares me. He could hook up with other girls and not even realize what he’d done. He could get in fights and be seriously hurt. He could drive after a party and crash. He could get in trouble with the cops and I’d be useless. I can’t stop him from doing any of that. You can’t change a person. I trust him because he has never given me a reason not to, but that could be broken so easily. I’m scared. So much could go wrong. What do I do? Wait until something goes horrible wrong? Leave him before I get emotionally dragged through the dirt? Give him a chance to prove he’ll stop? I. Don’t. Know….
It's a Saturday night and this 18 year old is sitting at home knitting and blogging.
