From Snow Day to Party Camp!

  Early this year it snowed in the heart of Seattle. For one day Seattle Center was home to more than 80 tons of snow! On this special day grownups were allowed to be kids again and all of life’s responsibilities disappeared. The only thing on your mind was the snowball in your hand and how this snowball would fly among the 6000 of its kind to make Seattle the proud holder of the World Record for the largest snowball fight ever! 

Neil Bergquist and a group of friends were behind Snowday. Neil had a passion for fundraisers and helping people but felt that all fundraisers were becoming less fun and were almost disengaging demographics. He wanted to change the way people experience fundraisers and create a memorable experience when raising money for a certain cause.

Almost 6000 participants showed up for Snow Day and the snowball fight took place with music in the background and smiles and laughter all around. 50,000 dollars were raised and a world record was broken. For one day 6000 people got a chance to be young again.

“It was really hard to predict what’s going to happen, controlling the weather was a major obstacle,” recalled Neil, he was worried about trucking in the snow, and the weather forecast, which predicted snow for the weekend of Snowday. However, everything turned out perfectly. They had sunshine and brisk air while  they broke the record for the largest snowball fight. The high point of Snow Day for Neil was looking down over Seattle Center; “it was almost spiritual what we were able to accomplish. Everybody was building forts, and smiles were all around.”

This August, Neil and the Party Camp team are bringing us something a little different. With Party Camp they want to recreate the summer camp experience and inspire people to relive this nostalgic feeling.

“Almost everyone has gone to summer camp in their life, and we want to bring back this experience through 7 days of summer camp in 7 hours! To top thing off we will try to break another record, this time the largest water balloon fight ever!” Said Neil.

Imagine 12,000 campers and best friends preparing for this legendary battle! There will frisbees flying in the air, body paint, shields, music, water balloon toss competitions and everything reminiscent of a summer camp experience. After all this fun, all participants will help break the World’s largest water Balloon fight, a record that currently belongs to the University of Kentucky! 

Besides breaking the world record the event will hold one of the largest beer gardens, a strip of Seattle’s best food trucks and let’s not forget the music, what’s a party without a DJ! All this fun is expected to raise 75,000 and send 35-40 kids from Seattle Children’s Hospital to Camp Korey.

19,000 gallons of water + 3,00,000 Balloons+12,000 Campers = Summer for everyone!
