Official trans VS fan trans: Zebra and White Tiger
I love this a lot, actually:
In the official translation, Atari says that he is "the stripes in black shirt" not "zebra in black shirt". It's a nice detail of his not-exactly-lying BS.
The fan trans makes this panel way more funny
I already said in my review of that chapter that having the text box plastered over Atari's face is clever since Mika is not seeing a person, she is just seeing a lie.
But her saying "I've been catfished" makes it even better. In the official trans she just says that he lied about his species.
In the official trans it is made more clear that Mika used photo-shop to edit her profile picture, which explains why she have so far hadn't been able to meet anyone who wanted to go on a second date.
It's a minor difference, but like in the official trans that the myth is about animals with patterns, not just the ones with stripes. But I guess that it could be argued that it would be even more relevant for animals with stripes.
Interesting difference between fan and official is that in the official, the sound that is first the beat of the music that turns to Atari's heartbeat is BOOM while in the fan version it is THUMP. Also, in the official trans, Mika tells Atari that he is among friends while in the fan version, she tells him they are all like him.
At the end of the story, this is what Mika tells Atari in the fan translation:
While in the official translation, she tells him to see past her stripes.
Am I obsessive about minor details? YES, absolutely.
That's my thing, that's why you are here :P
