I am contacting you tonight to inform you that the boat Madleen (Ship name BARCAROLE, operating under the flag of the UK) was intercepted at 3:02 am CET in international waters at 31.95236° N, 32.38880° E tonight by Israeli Forces. There were twelve activists from France, the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Türkiye and Brazil on board of the Madleen, aiming to bring a symbolic amount of aid to Gaza to break Israel's illegal blockade of Gaza. The blockade has been deemed illegal, as it is cutting off objects from the population of the occupied territories that are essential for their survival. Israel's illegal blockade has no jurisdiction to forbid ships from entering national waters around Gaza and therefore the interception of the Freedom Flotilla's ship is an illegal action under international law.The Madleen has been surveilled by drones during the night and white substance has been dropped on it shortly before the interception happened. This could also be another crime committed against a peaceful humanitarian mission. I urge you to do everything in your power to pressure the Israeli government to release the twelve activists as fast as possible and return them to their vessel so they continue on their mission. You have a responsibility towards safeguarding your citizens! You also have a responsibility to hold Israel accountable for committing this crime in international waters.
