When Cadillac released this ad for the ELR in February, glorifying American capitalism and bashing the "lazier" European lifestyle, it got...mixed responses.

Ford responded with the following ad, with Detroit Dirt founder Pashon Murray suggesting that the American dream isn't all about the material.

But Murray insists the ad wasn't intended as a dig at Cadillac:

"My intentions with the commercial is to shine a positive light on Detroit. Not that the ELR commercial wasn't positive, but we wanted to give more of my perspective about what I do on a day-to-day."

"I do believe I'm one of the many people in Detroit who is impacting Detroit. I'm just a part of this huge vehicle. I'm one of the components."
