Yes, but just be aware that it won’t count towards your GPA if you choose P/F.

Hey! Hope you guys are well and staying safe :) If I choose the pass/fail option for a 1st year Gen Ed course, (in general) do you think it'll have negative consequences when I apply for Graduate schools? (I'm in 2nd year of studies)
Personally I think if the graduate program rejects you solely based on this factor alone and shows no compassion for the difficult year everyone was in... that is a program you do not want to be in, anyway.
Grad programs do not put a lot of emphasis on Gen Ed courses, and with the exceptional situation of COVID-19, I'm sure they're more understanding than ever with pass/fail grades. They care about courses that are relevant to your research and your overall GPA, and most importantly, your fit with the faculty and research proposal.
