I swear going through my older sketchbooks is my favourite activity. I like to see how things get more refined as time passes.

The Devil's Heart

I really wanted to paint this properly and even made a really good sketch transfer BUT I effed up the inking...and as bad luck would want it that was my last sheet of watercolour paper. Even worse, I didn't take a photo of the sketch either. I'll still make it...eventually...but for now have this photobashed ref made out of two sketches and an innocent christmas ornament parents have at home. Someone unfollowed me on Instagram after I posted this on my stories.

Lore/ Worldbuilding under the cut

At the centre of all possible Passageways there stands an elevated construction where the heart of the first Devil is enshrined. The Heart miraculously leaks cursed blood. Those who drink it are said to gain the knowledge of all Passageways should they conquer the terrible madness the Heart inflicts upon them.

Passageways: an ancient system of ever-shifting secret routes, trails and hidden pathways sprawling across realms and havens built by ancient mages. The knowledge of the system and how it operates was lost during The Scission. The Passageways remain unmapped due to structural damage and beast infestation. It is therefore ill advised to use them without an experienced navigator. Most known entrances are heavily guarded and its use is restricted only to Royal Scholars of the Mage Academy.

The Scission: an event in which the world of magic has been fully separated from the world of humans following witch hunts. The Scission, orchestrated by the remaining Great Mages, created a thick veil which successfully separated the two worlds and made most people unable to perceive the Supernatural. The select few in the modern era (known as Mediums) can see the supernatural due to anomalies in the Veil in certain places or inherited abilities

sketch dump because I don't have anything else to post. I plan to make some of these into full paintings eventually. I noted the names under some of these (I like to name my illustrations) but not all. The titles will be: Vantage Point, Night Visitor, Some Heavy Ocean, Whispering Forest, Troubleshooting and Stasis. The characters are as follows: Lars from my comic STORM, Inge from Passageways project, Lars again, unnamed lad from Passageways, then Emilian and Isa, then Isa again.
