Yeah my detested

Based on a piece from Passegiera, Christa Winsloe hated the word yeah.

“Yeah,” Bill had the habit of saying the American Ja—which was now in fashion instead of “yes”—in a slow, drawn-out manner, as if the second sound E gave him a special pleasure as a foreign thing. It sounded like Jeeaa.

Translating the book, there's one important comforting fact: Willa Muir (known as * * Scott, if you know, you know) did not turn German version into English the way as she would want it to be. (In short, translations of the book in any language don't exist.)

The only version is the one which is closest to the original, and no matter into which language it is being tanslated or was translated. (It's applicable to any book in existence.)

Passeggiera: an excerpt

»Ach, die Blonde … immer will sie sich zanken mit mir … ich glaube, sie hat das gerne …« Mit einem verschmitzten Lächeln fügte er hinzu: »Es ist auch ganz nett …«

("Oh, the Blonde . . . she always wants to quarrel with me . . . I think she likes that . . ." With a mischievous smile he added, "It's quite nice too . . .") — p.5 (if use Kindle e-book & smallest Arial font & narrow margins.)

It had been published in 1938 (no idea, before Simone Gentet or not (the second known girlfriend).) Chris(ta Winsloe) described her as hysterical among other things. Therefore, Chris the masochist or what?!

EDIT: Gentet happened year later than publication (writing itself was even earlier.) "In October 1939, in Nice, she met the Swiss writer Simone Gentet, ten years younger, who became her partner." Found HERE (information is from An Encyclopedia of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Culture)

EDIT 2 (much later): all above summed up means that Chris predicted Gentet (or at the very least, was prepared completely to be with such a horrible woman.)

Christa Winsloe: two letters in English

Yes, in English. At first, I thought only the second one is from Chris, but both are 😭😃

Some parts (letter two) seem like Chris is near and talking to you ❤❤❤

Unfortunately, here and there (in the second letter) some letters are invisible or hard to understand, so when I'll have done the job of retyping it (maybe with help), it'll be here. The first letter is below.

Why I thought the above letter isn't Chris'. The signature. Looking closely, W is unmistakably Chris'; therefore, ja, natürlich, von Chris.

Passegeira by Christa Winsloe

Passeggiera, published in German in Amsterdam in 1938, tells the story of the young pianist, Sylvia Carlsen, who is returning to Europe on an Italian ship after having failed to make a career for herself in the USA. Her relationships with fellow travellers and crew members help her to come to terms with her life and identity.

Until now (it's a footnote) I had no idea that Passegeira is in a way Chris' one more semi-autobiographical novel (the least of all.) The more, the better.

Added later: I've noticed it only now. Just imagine a Scot would try to pronounce the surname Carlsen. O_o As Scots say, they use Carol instead of Carl (Karl.) Aaand . . . Chris is half-Scot. As far as it's known, I'm in no way Scot (wishful thinking), but tried to pronounce Karl with an R as close to Scottish version as possible (9 years ago first time, but who cares) and failed, of course.
