when i first met you, i felt such a... connection, i guess. an instant spark of recognition. they way you offered your friendship and your help without question or hesitation, the honest, unafraid way you spoke about your life and yourself. even the way you walk and dress and wear your hair and your face; everything about you feels familiar, homey.
i feel drawn to you. i don't think it's romantic, necessarily, thought it could be in the right situation. you are interesting and unique and so vastly intelligent, i could listen to you talk for hours... but i'm usually the one talking, and you listen, which makes me equally as happy.
when i talk to you my issues aren't really issues. i'm not ashamed or embarrassed or guilty because you know i can't control what my mind does; you can't either. you don't make me feel like i'm not really a person. you don't judge or expect anything of me. you understand when i dont talk to people for days and dont want to leave the house and sometimes when we're texting and we both stop replying, it feels like we're in the same room, just sitting in companionable silence doing our own thing--but together.
i wish i could show you how you look to me. i've tried to draw it, or paint it, because i know that would mean a lot to you, but i can never get it quite right. you're not someone i can capture in images, or even words.
i wished you looked as beautiful to yourself as you do to me. i wish i could kiss each and every one of your scars, touch your face, trace your smile and memorize every part of your body, especially the ones you don't like, so i can find them beautiful and you will have a reason to like them.
i wish i could base these feelings on something more than a few months of scattered friendship, but they're there and they're real and i am okay with that.
i hope someday we can go hiking together and do all those things you wish people would do with you. i will climb all the trees, and collect bones, and find you the prettiest shells and forest treasures and build you a lovely fire and make you messy snacks and we can howl at the moon and dance like animals and fall asleep among the stars and wind.
