Intel mua lại hãng bảo mật PasswordBox để tăng khả năng bảo mật
Intel đang cố gắng và nỗ lực tìm những giải pháp trong việc giảm thiểu vấn đề người dùng phải phụ thuộc vào mật khẩu khi tiến hành đăng nhập để sử dụng cho các mục đích cá nhân, bằng cách mua lại PasswordBox - một công ty quản lý danh tính trực tuyến, cho phép người dùng đăng nhập vào hàng loạt các website chỉ bằng một cú kích chuột. PasswordBox giờ đây sẽ trở thành một phần của Intel Security - một thương hiệu bảo mật của hãng sản xuất vi xử lý Intel, tập trung vào khả năng bảo mật trên Internet.
Được thành lập từ tháng 6/2013 và công ty của hãng có trụ sở tại Montreal (Canada), PasswordBox phát triển ngày càng nhanh chóng và đến nay đã có hơn 14 triệu lượt sử dụng. PasswordBox cho phép người dùng lưu trữ thông tin đăng nhập các trang web và ứng dụng vào một kho lưu trữ an toàn, cho phép người dùng đăng nhập vào các trang web mà không cần phải gõ lại mật khẩu. Ngoài ra, dịch vụ này cũng cho phép người dùng tạo các mật khẩu ngẫu nhiên để đăng nhập mà không cần phải ghi nhớ chúng.
Intel cũng là một trong những hãng công nghệ đi tiên phong trong chiến dịch giảm sự phụ thuộc vào mật khẩu đăng nhập, được xem là một trong những khâu yếu nhất trong quá trình bảo mật. Với việc mua lại PasswordBox, giới công nghệ có thể thấy Intel đang cố gắng thể hiện nỗ lực của hãng về việc tăng cường khả năng bảo mật cho người dùng.
Sau thương vụ, toàn bộ 44 nhân viên của PasswordBox sẽ chuyển sang làm việc tại công ty Intel, tuy nhiên các giới công nghệ hiện vẫn chưa rõ kế hoạch trong tương lai của Intel với PasswordBox sẽ như thế nào. Về phía PasswordBox cho biết công ty vẫn sẽ tiếp tục hoạt động như trước đây cho đến khi Intel đề xuất kế hoạch mới. Các giới công nghệ dự đoán rằng, Intel sẽ sử dụng PasswordBox làm hệ thống đăng nhập trên thiết bị di động và trình duyệt, cho phép người dùng đăng nhập bằng một cú kích chuột hoặc lướt tay, thay vì phải thực hiện thao tác nhập tên và mật khẩu đăng nhập như trước đây.
Bảo mật hiện là một lĩnh vực được Intel quan tâm và đầu tư mạnh. Trước đó vào năm 2011, Intel đã mua lại hãng bảo mật danh tiếng McAfee và đổi tên thành Intel Security vào đầu năm nay. Hiện Intel Security vẫn tiếp tục cung cấp các phần mềm bảo mật cho máy tính, máy chủ, máy chủ đám mây, thiết bị đi động... giống như hãng bảo mật McAfee trước đây.
