Per your reblog tags -- what kinda side effects did Pat get from using her powers? 👀 (If that's what you meant)
No pressure to answer!
this is a fun ask. (Not really)
cw: institutional ickiness, traumatic injuries, death
well, the worst one was death, but there’s a couple of things going on here.
there’s the side effects of the power suppression cuffs, namely seizures, and the suppression cuffs are one of the reasons that the side effects of her powers are so severe. Their long term usage interfered with her ability to control her powers.
her actual powers tend to effect her nerves and her heart. When she uses large amounts, tension builds up, causing tachycardia, fainting and dizzy spells, and headaches. Sometimes she gets nosebleeds or pops vessels in her eyes as well.
eventually, the release of the built up tension starts to damage her body physically. She breaks ribs, punctures lungs, and gets a concussion. After a particularly strong release, she tears a hole in her chest and bleeds out.
It was known at the time that the next use of her powers could kill her, but INSUPA deemed her to powerful to sideline. Her death was directly linked to the abuse at McIntyre and to INSUPA’s screwed up priorities.
