actually patch’s gender may be silly rabbit
the valley | a tmr short | word count: 2k
named for the oh hellos song! which has huge TMR vibes to me. i mean, sure, it’s a story about fae and a blood-drinking forest, but these kids deserve their beach episode.
you can find out more about TMR here. but for a refresher: the characters present here are winter auklet, farm-girl-turned-adventurer; her trusty dog skip, who follows her around like an NPC; viridi doveswing, a mysterious convalescent who can’t physically lie; patch gosling, the castle court jester, who has two hands (one for viridi and one for rowan); and rowan hawthorne, the blacksmith’s apprentice, who does not often talk or fear.
without further ado i bring to you: tmr beach episode.
“You’re going to want to take your boots off,” was the first thing Rowan said, when she met the others just outside the castle walls. He didn’t elaborate, and Winter didn’t get the chance to ask, because a moment later he was bounding off toward the north end of the island.
pride month ocs day 7: patch gosling from TMR! nonbinary court fool... call that transjester
Also which amt character and tmr characters would get along please respond
victor this is such a tasty question...
you KNOW winter would get along with pretty much everyone, because winter is That Way. but in specific i think she would really vibe with rahma and ginger!! for the weird girl energy. (though she might find rahma’s tendency to dramatic emotion... a little overwhelming.) she would also deem reuben trustworthy immediately on account of his being Good With Animals. and she would vibe so so transly with avery we KNOW this.
avery, being hugged by a girl who is technically younger than she is but much more outgoing and much more experienced about being gaytrans: “.......is this what having a sibling would be like???”
winter, who has like four younger siblings: :D
skip the dog: [licking avery’s hands]
and i think jada would get along with avery too. they both tend to try to blend into crowds while hiding a lot of problems and anxieties. jada tends to... er... sprout plants from her skin when she is stressed. but i think avery would find it very endearing if a little worrying (”do you... need to water them, or...” “usually i just pull them out?” “doesn’t that hurt?”)
patch and rowan (viridi’s partners) would fall right in with bitty and reuben, honestly. patch has the genuine love for their friends and propensity for bad jokes; rowan has the absolute reckless chaotic energy.
aurum and indrajit were made to vibe. we know this. they are both so so annoying but also genuinely probably a little too mature for their age with a tendency to take on problems they shouldn’t handle alone. plus aurum would love drama club; he’s a very good public speaker. and if aurum and indrajit are vibing, we KNOW moon and amanda are vibing. Tough-As-Nails Bisexuals Who Could Kill You. amanda lends moon the leather jacket; moon lends amanda the anarchist zines.
contrary to what some may think, viridi and isaac would not vibe. isaac would get a few sentences into the latest Woe Is Me speech and viridi would go, “oh, let me guess, you’re emotionally detached from your mother and you consistently feel alone and hopeless. can you shut the fuck up and go cry yourself to sleep like everyone else” and then they would not talk to each other again.
(winter drags viridi with her to hang out with hawk and ginger because viridi physically cannot say no to winter. he ends up making awkward conversation with hawk, who is too nice to be straight-up mean to.)
(here’s the short TMR story i’ve been working on! AKA: patch gosling has two hands. the only tw i can think of is a few brief mentions of malnourishment)
Patch was a fool, by trade and by nature, and they’d always felt a bit too much.
promptober day 8: star (& bonus character aesthetic: PATCH GOSLING)
Viridi was of a poetic disposition, but he reasoned thinking of Patch as a living constellation wasn’t too much of a stretch. His fingers always itched to paint them: their gaudy clothing; their bright double-hued eyes; the freckles patterning their pale face. They weren’t fixed like the North Star but always in motion, hands waving wildly as they spoke. Occasionally they reached up to touch their copper necklace, the object that had given Viridi the whole concept in the first place: a six-pointed star.
“The Star of David,” Patch explained when he asked. “I had it when they found me. I - I mean, I assume it was from my parents.”
It was the first time he’d ever seen their sparkling eyes dim.
forgot to post yesterday so! a double promptober feature, all about viridi being Gay
day 26: stretch
“What’s wrong?”
Viridi crossed his arms, staring intently at the wall. He always made the same face when he remembered he couldn’t lie; Patch was pretty familiar with it by now. “Something.”
“Yes, but what is it, exactly?” Patch asked, edging closer.
Viridi bit his lip, eyes narrowed in thought. “Cora did something that upset me,” he decided. The raven wasn’t at his side right now, and his hands were twitching. Patch slipped their own into Viridi’s, interlacing their fingers.
“That’s a stretch. What did Cora do?”
“Led me to someone,” Viridi said. “Someone who… someone else who’s been in the forest.”
day 27: thunder
Thunder always seemed to wake Rowan up. In the library, he sat alert at the window, staring out at the silver sky as rain lashed the glass and lightning clawed at the clouds. Rowan watched the storm, and Viridi watched Rowan, his pale hands clasped together and his flashing eyes, and the storm in Viridi’s chest picked up.
promptober day 29: double
Patch’s left eye was a soft blue; their right eye was a rich brown. “One from each parent, maybe,” they liked to joke, familiar good-natured smirk lighting up their face. “I mean, we’ll never know for sure.”
Whenever it came up, Rowan suggested they were two people combined, though he wouldn’t elaborate on how that might have occurred. Viridi pointed out that he and they were a matching pair of odd-eyes, and then said no more, except for mumbling occasionally about how pretty Patch was when he was sure they were out of the room.
Jada didn’t speculate. “They’re a witch,” she said matter-of-factly. At Viridi’s challenging glare, she added hastily, “Well. I didn’t say it was Patch’s fault.”
