Starlight is an elementary school teacher at the Ponyland Schoolhouse, the very same school that she and her friends attended as fillies. She’s an eccentric and hands(hooves?)-on teacher, taking her class on field trips whenever possible. Think Miss Frizzle but a bit more grounded and less reality-bending. 

Starlight and Bright Eyes frequently visit to have tea and talk academia, as Bright Eyes gives biology lectures at the Ponyland University. Sometimes Starlight invites Bright Eyes on her class’ field trips, especially if they involve environmental science. Starlight worked overtime at the Ice Cream shop to pay her way through the University’s teaching program. She’s still paying off her student debt but she loves her career.

Starlight is stuck in a cycle of perpetual longing and questioning her sexuality. Patch discovered in college that it was great fun to tease and flirt with Starlight, making the pink pony flush bright red. There are no romantic feelings between Patch and Starlight, but Starlight still gets weak in the knees when Patch turns on the charm. Patch just thinks it’s great fun.
