☥ KANE CHRONICLES' EGYPTIAN GODS AND THEIR MAGICIAN'S HEADCANONS:𓁟 THOTH: GOD OF WRITING, CALCULATION, SCRIBES, AND KNOWLEDGE, OF MAGIC AND SCIENCE, OF MOON/ASTRONOMY 𓅞
A/N: THOTH MY DUDE. I liked Rick Riordan’s portray of these god, even if he sort of had to make him less OP for the sake of the story. I get it but man, Thoth was really important. Kind of went overboard here so hopefully it still makes sense to you guys. EGYPTIAN GODS AND THEIR MAGICIANS MASTERLIST {A03} || {TUMBLR}
This is going to be an odd connection to have considering that Thoth is regularly associated with the House of Life, and you can actually see him in person if you desire to. What’s going to be more awkward and maybe the most difficult is that Thoth was the one who convinced the House of Life to abandon the Path of the gods…which is what you’re doing. Between Thoth’s nature of his serious yet absent-minded nature, and his role in abandoning the Path of the Gods, pursuing a connection with Thoth might not be what you’re looking for if you’re not doing this solely because you want to learn from him.
When you first try to pursue the Path of Thoth, you have to make all the way to Memphis, Tennessee where you will be interviewed and questioned by Thoth why you want to pursue the Path of the Gods- not just his path, but in general. He’s going to dissuade you from everything and if you’re doing it for power of any sort, you’re going to be denied in some form- from just disregarded or being godly tested.
If you honestly reveal why you want to pursue the Path of the Gods, and why you want to choose his path, because you want to learn and be educated, you may have a better chance of Thoth allowing you the chance of pursuing the path of the gods. If you want to continue under his path and communicate with him, expect to be tested and questioned academically, logically, and so forth; ranging from more interviews and questioning, essays, to actual practical tests. I feel like if you have tons of info to dump on a certain subject, oh boy, he would be very keen and prepare to talk for hours.
I think those under his path, Thoth would be more favourable to those who strive for knowledge and purely for it; so those going under his path will generally or have to be a more neutral or fair stance. In terms of D&D Alignment chart; think of Neutral Good and Lawful Neutral.’
That said, by pursuing the Path of Thoth, you’re basically working for or alongside Thoth, then say being affiliated with the House of Life; a stipulation for being able to pursue his path. Think of being his intern basically.
Thoth’s Path of the Gods contains Divine Words, Elemental Magic, Animal Charming and Transformation (baboons & Ibises), Healing Magic. Thoth is the God of Knowledge and Magic, so I’d imagine following his path is most desirable for how much you can learn and connect with him and how much you can achieve. However, I’d imagine because of his stance on the Path of the Gods, and how much power that could be used unjustifiably, there aren’t that many thus many going to the Path of Isis.
I’d imagine with Thoth, he’s going to encourage you to try everything under his path but you might not be able to master them all. He’ll know which one are your weaknesses but he would make your pursue it even if you fail because he rather want you to learn about it and at least know the basics of it, then master it at all. For example with Elemental magic, even if there are some elements you can’t get the hang of, he still wants you to learn about the fundamentals and feeling of it, having as a basic skill set, and if it's your oppositional element, he’ll tell you that he wants you to know your weakness. Basically, he’s going to make you learn and experience all kinds of magic and possibilities, because he’s a Wisdom god, and has a passion for education.
Divine Words and Healing Magic are a must by communicating with but Thoth, he’ll teach you in the most educational format. With Divine Words, he’ll break it down by Hieroglyphics, teaching you how they were composed to make up the word and thus what brings the spell to life and its truest sense. For Healing magic, he’ll not only make you learn how to use magic to heal others, he’ll teach you and give biology and medicinology lessons; especially since how squishy and vulnerable human bodies are. Afterall, Thoth is credited by the Ancient Egyptians for revealing hieroglyphics and medicine, so of course he’ll go all in.
Having Thoth in your brain is going to be constant. Not because he’ll constantly try to control you but whenever he catches your brain thinking of some question, whenever you experience a new moment, and what have you, he’ll be there like an eager teacher and giving you explanations. Of course, sometimes due to his absent-mindedness, he might go off on long-winded tangents but if you like to listen to people talk about their special interests, then you’re all good. Thoth would also like to listen to you ramble and learn your own perspective of things, so it's sort of mutual.
The god loves Blue Clues, so I can only imagine he’ll love Bluey and other certain similar cartoon shows. The more educational and appealing they are the better.
Surprisingly, among the mass of learning and discovering, Thoth will take you out on clear nights to just watch the stars. He’ll have a telescope and star charts of course to make it a learning opportunity, but he’ll join you for star-gazing. He is god of the moon (well astronomy if you want to go Kane Chronicles lore), so he’ll teach you about the stars. You can enjoy the stars as he plays his guitar, while cooking up this new barbecue recipe he discovered.
Thoth will also make you take breaks and tell you to go out to enjoy your own personal time because I think he would say that life is an experience that cannot be taught, and how precious human lives are, he encourages you to live and experience your life since life is the best teacher of them all.
Honestly, I don’t think you even have to pursue the Path of the Gods to have a connection with Thoth. If approached right, this still could all happen regardless.

“Hm, this is much of a conundrum” said Thoth as he analyzed all the writings of reports, essays, and homework he assigned to test you. “I will be very clear: I never supported the use of the Path of the Gods and I still am. Although, this generation of magicians have proven they are much more responsible than their predecessors, evidence of past actions suggest otherwise and I stand by my findings.”
You felt disappointed at his words but it made sense. You were even warned by Carter that pursuing the Path of Thoth was nil because of Thoth’s stance on the Path of the Gods.
“However, its clear you're unsuited for any other avenues of your fellow magicians and you have proven yourself to be a searcher for knowledge. So while I will not change my stance on the Path of the Gods, I feel like it's best in our interests if I invite you to study with me and I will guide you with my knowledge directly. How do you feel about this compromise?”
You gasped as you agreed as Thoth beamed.
“Marvelous! I will have a room and study set up for you soon since you will be absolutely be spending much time here studying and pursuing knowledge, and there is much I like to teach you. I am Thoth, God of Writing, Calculation, Scribes and Knowledge, of Magic and Science, and I will be very keen on what kind of scholar you are.”
