A little something from my scanned 16mm film archive. These 50ft Pathegrams reels were released for the early home movie market. The reel features a segment from the Chaplin/Arbuckle Keystone short The Masquerader (1914), re-titled here as A Female Impersonator.

Pathégrams were short 16mm reels aimed at the burgeoning home movie market of the ‘20s & ‘30s. Their catalogue featured newsreels (The Dionne Quints & Hindenburg disaster were popular ones) & comedic shorts, not unlike similar offerings from Castle & Official Films. I collected a few comedy reels a number of years ago, featuring Chaplin, Charley Chase, Snub Pollard & Monty Banks. Posted here is Snub Pollard in “At the Ringside” (1921), a one-reeler that managed to retain its original title in digest form.
