July 17th is Hot Dog Day!
While today is merely Hot Dog Day, the entire month of July is celebrated as National Hot Dog Month. The models in these photos are celebrating National Hot Dog Month with the Patrick Cudahy meatpacking plant in Cudahy, Wisconsin in 1957.
Patrick Cudahy moved to Milwaukee as a child with his family from Ireland in 1849. He and his brother John took over the Plankinton and Armour meatpacking plant in 1888, renaming it Cudahy Brothers. The company changed its name to Patrick Cudahy in 1957, the same year as these photos were taken, and still operates today.
Both of these photos can be found in the James Blair Murdoch Photograph Collection, 1920-1965, UWM Manuscript Collection 131, Box 13, at the UWM Archives as well as online in the UWM Libraries Digital Collections.
