Picking the right gift for your Valentine is always hard ..

For example, my girlfriend doesn’t like flowers. But this year, I got her flowers. Yay me. I manage to get away with this every year, but things aren’t always this simple~ whether your Valentine is someone you’ve known for a while or someone that you’d like to get to know, there’s always that desire to find the perfect gift for them on this heartfelt day. I personally am not in touch with my creative side, so I always struggle to find a gift that expresses how I feel towards my significant other. I feel the need to do something different from the usual flowers and chocolate, which OBVIOUSLY did not work out for me this year, so it’s needless to say that there’s a lot of thinking involved around this time every year. If you are the complete opposite of me and can, in fact, find something creative to do as a gift, congratulations! I actually envy you. a lot. actually having a meaningful gift is always great, I suppose. And it’s true that it’s the thought that counts. But always remember that what makes the day special is not the gift itself, but the effort you make to let the person know how special they are to you. Get what I’m trying to get at? Because I’m not too sure about what I’m trying to get at. But I bought girlfriend flowers. Why? Because she likes flowers? Noooooooope. But she does mean a lot to me. and although I still struggle to find that one gift for her, I still want her to know that she makes me happy. and every time she looks up from her desk and sees those flowers on her desk, she’ll remember how stupid - thoughtful I am. So if you’re still reading this now and thinking, what the hell is this kid talking about, stahp. It doesn’t matter what gift you find for your significant other, as long as you let take the time to let them know how much they mean to you on this day, I’m sure they’ll be happy to be spending their valentine’s day with you. :)

Finals Prep

joh sunnn sai lo jaiiiii :) finals are coming up!!! are you guys ready? NO!? me neither. but don’t worry! here’s some advice that might help you pull through finals!

The first step is to stay calm. You don’t need the additional stress! Take it easy. You’ll get through it! Jia you. Don’t forget to pace yourself. Plan out your schedule! Give yourself time to do what you need to do. Be reasonable with your goals and make sure you stick to them. It’ll be worth it in the end. :) I know you procrastinate. We all do. But sometimes it’s good to reward yourself. When you work hard, you get to play hard. Or something like that. And sometimes it’s the other way around. I know there’s times when you don’t want to work. And sometimes it’s better to get it out of your system before you can focus. But be strict with yourself! If you know you don’t deserve it, don’t give yourself that break, FOOO.

If you’re having trouble focusing, find your place. Maybe it’s in the library. Maybe it’s your dining room table. Maybe it’s in the third stall of the bathroom on the fifth floor of Ayala. If it works for you, do it.

Don’t forget to keep our priorities straight. If you know you shouldn’t be out, go back to your corner and open that Ochem book. It ain’t going to read itself. And put that mouse down. Your team will probably do better without you feeding anyways. Don’t even bother picking up that phone. I don’t even know what God Fest is, but I’m pretty sure it can wait. Unless you’ve been focusing on your studies. And you are rewarding yourself for your hard work. Then by all means, twerk it out~

On the day of finals, don’t forget to get a night’s worth of sleep, stay healthy, and eat a hearty breakfast. A bagel. Or Lucky Charms. Or Cheerios. Don’t worry. You got this. Take your time on the exam. Remember not to panic and trust your intuition! That’s it for noww. Goodluck on your studying and I wish you the best during finals week! :)

My favorite memory of Chinese Association would definitely have to be my Culture Night experience! At the beginning of the year, I had no idea what traditional Chinese dance was. However, after our family's joint Thanksgiving dinner, I agreed to check out auditions with Sevinna Zeng.  Although I had no dance experience, I wanted to give it a try! I felt a bit awkward during auditions because I had trouble doing the simplest things, such as cartwheels and rolls. Even so, I stuck with traditional dance and eventually learned how to do all of that, and more! I also decided to take part in all guys, as well as coed dance and ended up being partnered up with Sevinna! Even without dance experience, I really enjoyed coming to practice and learning from my coords Alex Xiong, Sophia Wong, and Tiffany Khau. Although practices were long, I endured and was proud of what I had accomplished. I will never forget the feeling of anxiety right before our performance. I knew that all of our work during the past three months came down to one performance, but at the same time, I was excited to show everyone what we have been working on. By the end of the night, I was glad to have been able to be a part of such an experience and will definitely decide to take part in it again this year!
