Last night, Portland community members were organizing a march for Amir Locke, Daunte Wright, and Patrick Kimmons in a park, when a man came outside his home armed with intent to kill protesters. He shot a 60+ year old in the face. Point blank. He also shot several other people, 5 of whom were hospitalized, all of whom were in motorcade trying to protect the majority of protesters nearby. This was someone murdering and maiming Black Lives Matter protesters for daring to speak and march on public streets. The Portland protest community needs help: medical and funeral and legal expenses. Please help if you can.

Patrick Kimmons Autonomous Zone established in Portland, Oregon!

Late last night (June 17th), protesters in Portland barricaded the streets and declared an autonomous zone named after Patrick Kimmons, a black man murdered by Portland police in 2018 whose case was closed without a conviction for his killers. The dedication was approved by Patrick’s mother

Even though, as the PPB was so adamant about pointing out, the person they killed *this time* was white.

Portland, Ore., cops kill another Black man

Police here shot another young Black man, Patrick Kimmons, about 10 times in the back on Sept. 30, killing him.

A witness, Ayan Aden, was parked at the scene with her boyfriend. They saw Kimmons run by and drop his gun. They heard the police yell “Stop!” and then immediately open fire as Kimmons continued running away from the cops. At an Oct. 1 vigil, Aden said, “The shooting was excessive. He was clearly running away and threw the gun away.” (oregonlive.com, Oct. 2)

Within days after the shooting, hundreds of people blocked traffic at the site of the killing and set up a memorial with signs, pictures of Kimmons, candles and flowers that line the block. All week, people have held a vigil for Kimmons. They have been chanting “Say his name! Patrick Kimmons!” and “Black lives matter!”

On Oct. 5, 200 angry protesters and members of Kimmons’ family gathered near the memorial with signs reading “Police violence is white supremacy,” “Stop racist police terror” and “Resistance is happening now.” They marched through downtown Portland to condemn the killing.
