what about ‘black cat’ as in a perfectly sociable person who just wants to be left alone for once and is quickly getting impatient, their nerves worn thin from the constant bouts of affection being dumped onto them, and (keyword and not x) ‘golden retriever’ as in a person who thinks they prefer abuse to abandonment, waits alone screaming in their head when they’re forced to be by themselves, who pouts, whines, threatens to jump in front of a moving bus unless they’re taken back, who pulls their loved ones so close it pushes them away
