By Demand | Philippe & Patricius
The queen left the room and silence fell between the two men for a second. Philippe hadn’t glanced at him through the entire exchange, having spoken only to the queen and she to the two of them. Philippe couldn’t bring himself to understand why Rosalia Grey would send him on a quest with his sire instead of a council member --- maybe she didn’t want to distract too many of them from work; maybe she put her faith in Patricius’ ability to make him behave --- but he didn’t dare question the child queen, not when his question would put him in an uncomfortable position. He didn’t want to talk about his sire just as much as he was unwilling to talk to the man.
It was time to put the abilities he had perfected through the last sixteen centuries to good use, push whatever personal feelings he had about the man in question into a box and kick it into a corner at the back of his mind. This was business and business he excelled at.
Philippe turned to look at his sire and his face was rid of emotion, cold and impersonal. He might as well have been staring into a wall. “I do hope you are not too fond of your shoes.” The vampire left the meeting room with his sire right by his side. A frown lined his forehead, gears turning around his mind while he mulled over the situation. Hands clasped behind his back, blue eyes settled ahead of them towards the palace’s exit, he looked more worried than he had for the past few months. “Let me do the talking”, Philippe said. “This city is a boiling pot. We don’t want it spilling all over us.”
