Patrick Cashin’s photographs, taken from high above and deep below the New York City Transit system, offer a unique perspective that takes full advantage of a skilled eye and unparalleled access. During his 20 years as MTA’s official #photographer, Cashin captured countless images that tell a story of the bridges and tunnels that few know. In a notable image currently on view in his Lightbox exhibition at the Bowling Green (4,5) station, a falcon sits majestically atop the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. Another image from an earlier exhibition, reveals an early stage of Second Avenue Subway tunnel construction.

Celebrating the retirement of #PatrickCashin, after 20 years as MTA photographer. Apart from documenting the entirety of the transit system, Patrick has beautifully captured the @mtaartsdesign program through all stages of projects, from installations to station openings, and through special events like #MTAMusic Auditions. His photographs of #MTA Capital Projects were featured in a Lightbox exhibition “Breaking Ground” at the Bowling Green station in 2015.
