i'm weirded out by that st0netoss post you reblogged saying "the more you hate isr@el, especially irrationally, the more you feel allowed to dehumanize those who support it" ... hating isr@el and the people who support it isn't irrational 🤨 also the part where op is utterly incredulous at the suggestion that isr@el could be as bad as some of the other countries named in the comic?? (to be clear i am NOT defending st0netoss or the general issue of opportunistic anti-semitism the post is addressing)

hello!! i responded to this and then it wouldnt post which is frustrating. i think its pretty clear that israel is a colonial terror state and so hating it isnt irrational lol, and like most of its supporters are people ok with genocide and with dehumanising palestinians in turn. i took "especially irrationally" with the rest of the post ie ppl who coopt the palestinian struggle for liberation as a cover for anti-semitism and far right conspiracy thinking. like you also see far right "thinkers" who have rapidly expanded their platforms by especially sharing posts abt media disinformation and it is worrying (there was a tweet citing numbers of a few examples and how their follower counts have grown, will link back if i can fine it). in reality mainstream western media caters to the american govt, which needs war for the economy, and a few wealthy zionists, many of whom have antisemitic motivations for jewish ppl to exist solely in one ethno nation state. re: the comparison to other countries i actually disliked op's analysis of the comic for other reasons, to me it felt more like the comic was being dismissive of the situations in other countries and if you follow the throughline it's bc the perpetrators weren't jewish. i think i have my own mixed thoughts on russian and nkor and how they are portrayed by media and i do think that israel is worse especially in the past two months, but there is a fine line btwn acknowledging this and exceptionalising it particularly(?) if that makes sense. at the same time i tend to find analysing tone in these posts a bit unproductive when antisemitism really is rising (the recent albany shooting a quite clear recent indication). still i appreciate this ask and it has made me think through some of the details of that post further
