I've only been browsing for a bit, but I've already found some cool patterns to try and also people whose blogs on Blogspot look promising. Maybe it's because I'm new to the site and don't know the best way to navigate it, but I wish I could sort patterns by "most reviewed", just so I could get a sense of the most tried and true stuff out there. But I guess the biggest use case is that you already have a pattern in mind, and you are checking for potential pitfalls that others have already fallen into and know how to get out of. Handy!

One thing that I am also really excited about is that they have regular contests with fun topics--I think the most recent one that concluded was the "Matchy Matchy Contest" where people were challenged to create whole outfits in the same color/pattern. Too bad I just missed it because I do love a good monochromatic 'fit!

They also have an Instagram with useful updates, which is nice because the website itself seems a little hectic to me :P

Makes me wonder...do they have a tumblr? 🤔

Piece #2 in my fall wardrobe capsule is complete: Style Arc’s Diana Top.

Fall in the South means hot, hot, hot weather until at least October. But I’m jealous of all y’all wearing beautiful fall colors. So, when I was thinking about a fall capsule wardrobe, I wanted lightweight tops in beautiful fall colors. Enter a piece of mustard DBP in my stash and the Diana Top.

Little Boy Blue Pattern Review

Little Boy Blue, come blow your horn, the sheep's in the meadow, the cow's in the corn. But where is the boy who looks after the sheep? He's under a haystack fast asleep.

This is the next installment of designs inspired by nursery rhymes...Little Boy Blue.  When I saw this stitch pattern, it reminded me some how of haystacks. 

I wanted to do a simple little sweater with not much shaping,  This one is worked in pieces, only so that the sleeves can be picked up and worked down to the wrist and eliminate extra seams.  The drop shoulder prevents sleeve shaping and the fronts are worked straight to the neck and fold back to form a lapel.  The button bands are worked at the same time as the front pieces.  Only two seams to sew makes this a fairly easy sweater to knit.

The hat is worked in the round straight to the top and then bound off with a three needle bind off for an easy shape.

SKYP Cardigan Pattern Review

SKYP was inspired by a stitch pattern I used while making a pair of socks.  As I was knitting, I thought about how it would make a great sweater.  I used a cotton/silk blend yarn so that the sweater woudln’t be too clingy with the ribbing, yet it would still provide some stretch at the sides for shaping.

Unfortunately after I finished the sweater, I found that the yarn had been discontinued!  Those are the breaks when you hoard, I mean, have the foresight to stockpile yarn when it is on sale!

This is a nice light weight cardigan to carry with you when you are on vacation and the nights get cool.  The striped bands give it a nautical feel, and the classic shape and set-in sleeves give it a tailored look.

This is my second sewing effort, made after Simplicity 5914 (link to my review). Pattern Description:  Misses's Slim and A-Line Skirts Each in Three Lengths (six total views). The skirt is made of four panels with a back zipper, and the skirts include a broad waistband. I made "View C," a knee length pencil skirt with stitching details down the front and around the waistband.  View Detail

I would label this not only "Easy & Great for Beginners" but also "Great Wardrobe Builder." Pattern Description:  A-Line skirts in two lengths, three versions flaring from the hip and three versions flaring from the waist. I sewed "View F" -- the most basic paneled A-Line in the package.

Pattern Reviews and Pattern Testing

I'm thinking I might start doing pattern reviews. Whether these be patterns on ravelry of even just an entire book review. What would you guys think of that? Let me know.

I also would maybe do pattern testing, but I'd feel bad if I said I'd do it and then got caught up with other stuff and didn't do it. So we'll see. If you want a pattern tested and don't care about time, hit me up and we can talk.
