People are so quick to bring up Patton and religion when he has almost never referenced it in canon, especially to back his arguments. Logan mentions Thomas 's catholic upbringing ONCE and y'all seem to have latched on to it and treat it like it's the only thing Patton does when that line seems like a last minute edition if anything. When Patton is making a case he backs it up with emotions, he doesn't go around mentioning the fucking Bible every single sentence

Things About Patton That Make Me Want to Cry i love him hh:

*Close enough to the other core three to know exactly how to get them to calm down, the specific items that can redirect their attention [LNTAO]

*The whole scene in [Embarrassing Phases] when he talks about how it’d be cool if people remember the vines they used to make for years to come :’)

*His visible Excitement when another side rises up. He’s so happy to see them!!! [POF, Moving On pt.1, Fitting In, etc.]

*Absolutely will not hesitate to remind everyone how much he loves them. Hint, it’s very much! [Alone on Valentine’s Day]

*Tries his best to do whatever anyone asks of him- even if it’s to his detriment     :( [SVS, Moving On, POF]

*Like the Least Stubborn Character in the show. Anyone: hey Pat ur wrong / Patton: Oh i am?? Sorry!! how can I be better? [POF, DWIT, LNTAO]

*The fact that he told us his name with A Pun,,,, I still haven’t gotten over it [Growing Up]

*The Sheer Amount of Times that he has been distracted with food..... nom.... [SVS, Growing Up, IIADS]

*He’s a frog and Frog’s are objectively good 100% of the time so I rest my case. [POF]

*Speaking of cases!! The bit in [SVS] when he interrogates himself sends me- and when he like, parents himself??? A+ we love to see it Pat. Be nice to urself hell yeah.

*Also in [SVS] every single time he makes a joke solely for Virgil’s benefit I can’t even handle the best friend dynamic they have. 

*He’s had Janus for one (1) month and already is making sure that he knows he’s appreciated because Patton is a Good Friend [POF, specifically the end card]

*Even if he obviously doesn’t like someone, he’s never outright mean to them, and even tries to appeal to them on occasion! Hell, he’s the first to say that Janus isn’t evil, Directly after Jan impersonated him. [SVS, DWIT, CLBG]

*He’s just trying to enjoy Frozen can everyone please stop arguing? Let him talk about how much he loves Olaf. [ATHD]

All Of The Sides Are Equally Trying Their Best To Help Thomas And Change.

Let's talk about Patton Sanders

As you might have noticed by now, I love Patton Sanders. That's one of the reasons why the hate he's been getting lately, makes me really upset. So this is my way of trying to put everything in perspective.

First things first. A lot of people say that Patton is manipulating the others, I don't think that's true. Patton tries his best, but he's been put under a lot of pressure by Thomas. Thomas trusts that Patton always knows what to do. This however isn't the case, but whenever he mentions that to Thomas, he pushes Patton to give an answer. Thomas is scared because of all the changes that are happening and unfortunately, this puts a little too much pressure on Patton

This also leads to him transforming into Lilypadton. In that scene, Janus puts so much pressure on Patton, that he simply can't handle it anymore. He tells them that he doesn't know, but is still forced to give an answer.

So no, I don't think that Patton is manipulative. He is simply put under too much pressure and that leads to his breakdown.

Another point people like to make, is that he purposely belittles Virgil. I'm also disagreeing with this. As soon as Virgil tell Patton that the nicknames make him uncomfortable, Patton tries to change. He feels guilty and tries to help Virgil. He immediately calls him Virgil, while he would have normally called him 'kiddo'.

All he is trying to do is to support Virgil. When Virgil first came into the group, the others treated him like the bad guy. Virgil needed love and support he needed someone who could look past his dark persona. Patton became this person. Patton noticed that Virgil wasn't there in AA p1. He told the others that Virge was one of them. But as the show continued, Virgil became more a part of the group, he didn't need the soft treatment of Patton anymore. This is why Patton is confused but he is still trying

Yes, Patton has made some mistakes. Just like any other side. He isn't perfect, and that's what makes him even better. Everyone makes mistakes, but the important thing is how you handle them. Some of sides immediately blame eachother for their own mistakes. They start calling eachother names and lash out. Patton, when he understands what he's been doing wrong, apologises and tries to make things better. He is genuinely trying his best

I love that most of the fandom has agreed that Patton has freckles, it’s amazing. (Thought Patton’s just amazing in general no matter appearance and while he’s not perfect, none of the sides are and he’s certainly trying his best. Not to mention, his puns are fan(der)tastic.)
