These Chicken and Chorizo Patty Melts combine the savory flavors of ground chicken and chorizo with Swiss cheese and tangy condiments, all sandwiched between slices of crispy rye bread. It's a delicious twist on a classic patty melt that will satisfy your burger cravings!
Ingredients: 1/2 lb ground chicken. 1/2 lb ground chorizo sausage. 1/4 cup diced onion. 1/4 cup diced red bell pepper. 1 clove garlic, minced. Salt and pepper to taste. 4 slices of Swiss cheese. 4 slices of rye bread. 2 tablespoons mayonnaise. 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard. 2 tablespoons butter. 1/4 cup pickled jalapeo slices optional, for garnish.
Instructions: Put the ground chicken, ground chorizo, diced onion, diced red bell pepper, and minced garlic in a large bowl. Add pepper and salt to taste. Make 4 patties of the same size out of the mixture. Set a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for four to five minutes on each side, or until they are done all the way through and have a nice crust. In the last minute of cooking, put a slice of Swiss cheese on top of each patty to melt it. Spread mustard and mayonnaise on one side of each slice of rye bread while the patties are cooking. Melt the butter over medium heat in a different pan. Put the bread slices in the pan with the mayo and mustard side down. Toast them until they are golden brown and crispy. When you're ready to make the patty melts, put a cooked patty on one slice of toast. If you want, you can add pickled jalapeo slices on top, and then put another slice of bread on top with the toasted side facing in. Do this again with the rest of the bread slices and patties. Cut each patty melt in half across the middle, and serve hot. Take a bite of your Chicken and Chorizo Patty Melts.
