So my friend Kat and I were throwing around ideas of fun yet comfy simple costumes. We decided doing punk versions of Rainbow Brite and the Color Kids would be both fun and nestolgic. Thinking it would be a fun group, we we're joined by Rose and RaaBee. While happy, we will be updating the costumes, hopefully gaining some more Color Kids, and reshoot. Hi, I'm Patty!
Tell us a little about yourself I have been working with children for nearly 10 years in many different capacities. I come from a family of teachers and I feel like working with children has been more than a passion for me, it's what I was meant to do. I have been a tutor, a teacher,a child care aide, an after-school program instructor and the list goes on. I love working with children and learning from them just as much as they learn from me. I believe I would be a great fit for this program and teaching your children because teaching brings me joy. The world is full of people who are important to have and teachers are the first step in creating those people. I believe a teacher is the first person who nurtures and inspires the spark in children to achieve their hopes and dreams for the future.
What is your philosophy on and approach to behavioral management? I feel that if you're not having fun learning what the children are learning then they won't either. Finding what the children find interesting and their best way of learning tends to help with managing behavior. If the kids are interested they tend to be have better. Who was your favorite teacher and why? Ms. Spann-Robinson 11th grade literature teacher at Stone Mountain High school. She loved teaching and she made everyday in the classroom fun. She always had a smile on her face and she just found an enjoyable way to teach her lesson each day.
What's your philosophy on what it means to be a great teacher? Someone who genuinely cares about their students and will do whatever it takes to ensure their children succeed beyond the classroom and in life. What advice would you give to someone who is considering becoming a teacher? Be open. Don't feel as if you cannot learn anything new just because they are children. Children are bright and curious and it makes a classroom a place that is always different and never a dull moment. In your opinion, what is the role of the live teacher in a world where it is becoming increasingly easy to get access to information through the internet and online courses? Being able to have human contact is something precious and needed for children to be able to have an experience that they can relate to. Although information may come in many forms the emotion connection with a teacher is one that cannot be replicated by that of a computer screen.
How can we, as teachers of children, work to build a society where people are respectful towards each other and the environment? We need to practice more empathy towards others. Understanding someone else's experience helps with being able to respect them more as a person and leads to being better people in general.
YouTube, a place with a niche for everyone. I'd LOVE to get into the phenomenon where actors/writers/directors have stopped waiting to see projects that suit their style and have instead opted to go for kickstarter and have began hosting their own content on Youtube BUT that's not why I sat down to write this post. This post is to bring attention to a different YouTube phenomenon, that of BritPopPrincess or Patricia. Don't let the screen name fool you. This girl is down to earth and always ready for a good laugh. She started off being a hair,make-up, fashion YouTuber like so many others, but then one day she decided to do a boyfriend tag. Her subscribers liked Mike so much, that when they got married they did a Husband tag and even gave their fans a compilation video of the wedding. Demand for more Mike soon spiraled into what is now their vlog channel BritPopLife and on every Tuesday and Friday we've watched them travel to Spain, eat KFC, hang out with family members, shop, cook, inspire laughs and most recently, house hunt. They've finally gotten the keys! This house has work to be done on it so I'm sure we're going to see more terrible wallpaper removal attempts from Mike over the next few weeks.
What's so attractive about this couple? Why have 23,614 of 164,664 subbies decided to officially subscribe to Mike and Patricia’s daily lives? I think it’s that as human beings we will always crave a connectedness and in a time when reality tv is far from reality it’s fun to see two hard working people (Mike is a physical therapist and Patricia is an accountant) have fun and truly enjoy life as it is.
Enjoy,
Nia Ain
