Nalalasing Na Ako sa Pagmamahal Sa’yo (An Article on the Movie, I’m Drunk I Love You)

It’s been a month since I’ve written something HAHA sorry guys, I was just busy with school and all soooo here it is but just a friendly warning, if you have not watched the movie yet and ayaw mo ng spoiler, ‘wag mo na muna basahin ‘to (LOL). Hindi ‘to movie review ah, insights lang and my thoughts on the movie so feel free to read but sana naman walang mambabash ‘jan.
My friends and I had a post-Valentine’s Day celebration. We were supposed to watch My Ex and Whys but then the seats left in the cinema were located at the very front of the screen so we chose to watch I’m Drunk I Love You instead, which was a great choice by the way. Though most of my friends were against the ending of the said movie, I totally agree with how things has turned out to be with the characters at the end. I guess it was a symbolism of what happens in real life. It was trying to tell us that we’ll never know what happens next and that we’ll have to wait. I also love the set of songs used in the movie. They were totally great and super coherent with the theme of the movie. So enough of the plot and the soundtrack..... Maja Salvador and Paulo Avelino’s acting was also super solid. They portrayed the characters very well. Alam mo ‘yun, ramdam mo talaga ‘yung kilig at pagkasawi. BUT I LOVE JASON TY MORE THAN ANYONE (LOL). I think all I need in my life is a “Jason Ty.”
Here are some of the things I’ve learned from the movie that I would like to share with you:
1. May hangganan din ang pagiging tanga.
Loving someone without the assurance of being loved back is the hardest of all. It’s a matter of taking a risk. She chose to stop until she really did. If you experience the same thing, go with it because pain is a part of our lives. Time will help you heal, ‘wag mong madaliin. Pero it is a matter of choice pa din. Kung pipiliin mong maging tanga nang sobrang tagal, you would not see what you’ve missed since nakafocus ka on one person. But if you open your eyes and let go, you’ll know that you deserve better.
‘Di man maamin ni Carson pero one of the things that was stopping her from graduating was Dio. She got stuck with her feelings na 7 years nang di pa niya nailalabas. When she finally chose to let it go, she was able to set herself free from all the “what ifs.” She chose to go up that stage and start a new chapter of her life. She chose to grow up.
Carson, herself, was already aware na hanggang kaibigan lang talaga ang turing sa kanya ni Dio but she was still hoping that when she finally takes the risk, may magbabago. She took the risk and she got the answer that she was looking for. You can see in the movie na “iba pa rin pala talaga kapag sinampal na sa’yo ang katotohanan” (Somewhat same sa line ni Dio sa movie, no? HAHAHA).
4. Some people are worth just being friends with because you can't afford to lose them with feelings that may just be temporary.
Sa hinahaba haba ng friendship nila Carson and Dio, a 7-year friendship would not be worth just a petty break up. You would not want to risk a relationship that long just because things are awkward. Siyempre, not making things awkward is not easy but in the end, Carson tried her best to bring back the kind of treatment they used to have before she even confessed her feelings. It’s a matter of weighing what you’re gonna gain and lose in the process.

“Huwag kang mag-sorry. Hindi mo naman kasalanan na hindi mo ako mahal.” - Carson to Dio, I’m Drunk I love You (2017)
Don’t say you’re sorry. It is not your fault if you don’t love me.
