Pawbert’s Injuries in Zootopia 2
My thoughts!
I haven’t seen anyone acknowledge the amount of injuries Pawbert sustained in the latter half of Zootopia 2 😭😭
Like I know he tried to commit four murders but did anyone stop to think WHY?
Pawbert was abused by his family for an extended period of time and was likely isolated from the rest of the world. He was probably made to feel like his only value was his heritage, which is why he was so desperate to gain the approval of his father - to finally feel like he belonged somewhere.
His actions weren’t justified, OBVIOUSLY.. but I’m convinced Pawbert isn’t a bad person at heart, and that he only resorted to such desperate and violent measures as a final attempt to get his family to acknowledge him as one of their own.
Pawbert was surrounded by his family for his entire life. He knew Judy for a day, and he wasn’t familiar with Nick or Nibbles at all!
He clearly enjoyed Judy and Gary’s company, but I think he felt he couldn’t back down from his pre-meditated plan, which originally may not have even involved murdering Gary (Judy was always doomed I feel.) Pawbert only forced Gary into the cold after he tried to fang him, and even then he looked extremely guilty.
I’m positive that Judy could have talked him down from his rampage if she made a further effort to understand his motivations. I’m aware it didn’t work the first time, but I feel Pawbert may have at least calmed down enough to listen to her if she tried again, with feeling.
INSTEAD, SHE AND NICK ATTEMPT TO RUN HIM OVER.
TWICE.

Now that I’ve clarified why I think Pawbert wasn’t entirely deserving of the BRAIN DAMAGE he sustained, let’s count just how many times he got hurt. ))):
Pawbert falls off the edge of a cliff, which broke apart under the combined weight of him and Nick.
When he retreats to the Lynxley manor, his father grabs him by the collar of his shirt and throws him to the ground. He lands on the leg that he injured.
Nick and Judy hit him so hard with a snow mobile that he flies into a window and cracks the glass. We later see him limping through the hedge maze.
Judy and Nick try to HIT PAWBERT WITH A TRUCK. Granted it had a giant shovel at the front, but Pawbert, still injured, was running away whilst looking PETRIFIED. Meanwhile, Nick and Judy appeared UNHINGED (I still adore the Wildehopps duo but this scene was CRAZY.)
Judy kicks Pawbert several times and Nick trips him up so that he lands in the snow. This was (largely) unprovoked - he hadn’t tried to attack them since they were all at the Weather Wall!
Gary hits him over the head with baseball bat and he weakly calls out to his father for help (my heart.) He tries to crawl away but Gary drags him back, LAUNCHES HIM INTO THE AIR AND SLAMS HIM INTO THE GROUND?? GARY :((
By the time Pawbert makes it to Reptile Ravine, he can bearly stay upright, and we can see he has a black eye and a tooth missing. Officer Hogbottom then proceeds to knock him out with a frying pan.
When Judy and the gang are greeted by reporters, we can see Pawbert in the background, barely conscious. We later see him in prison, where the other inmates threaten to beat him up, and he looks terrified. :,)
Overall..
HE SUSTAINED 5 SEPERATE HEAD INJURIES ON TOP OF BEING BEAT UP BY LITERALLY EVERYONE!!
If nothing else, Zootopia 3 is going to be his brain damage era.
