We chucked a few #pawpaw seeds into our flower beds last fall after crafting our first batch of #trulylocal #pawpawjam... 🍌🥭 Whilst wrapping up the garden cleanup and pack out, we found this beauty fighting through a patch of Lilly of the valley, our very own #pawpawtree!!! 🙌 If you grabbed your Pawpaw Jam or we’re lucky enough to grab the limited fruits we were able to bring to market, now you know how easy it is to start a pawpaw tree of your own from the seeds we’re giving with every Pawpaw Jam purchase! ✊ The finding of a sapling to the largest #indigenous #fruit of #northamerica could not be a more fitting joy to share with you all today. ❤️ Columbus discovered there was a far bigger world than the Europeans knew, but what we now share as #America today was already inhabited by a huge network of #indigenouspeoples. Tons upon tons of seeds drying from crafting this weeks #PawpawJam has us thinking a lot about our #trulylocal commitment. 🌎 Though the #pawpaw is North America’s largest indigenous fruit, it seems like so many of the folks we talk to have never even seen or tried one, let alone picked one up and put it in their pocket! 😂 It’s by no fault of ours that this #local treat has been left off the #locallandscape, but it can our opportunity to change that. ✊ We’ll be including a small packet of seeds with each Pawpaw Jam purchase for everyone to plant as they wish.
