Normally I don’t go searching for Volunteer Fire Department material but @pawprint3 mentioned a firepole in an old Vancouver Fire Department hall with the letters “VFD” on it in the notes of a post and I wanted to see if I could find a picture of it. Alas not but I did find the Vancouver Firefighters Historical Society which has some delightful historical photos of their halls, equipment, and firefighters, who they seem to call “smoke eaters.” Please enjoy this offering, including, for thematic reasons, the VFD dive team with their little Queequegesque seahorse logo.
