I love me a sad boyfailure that feels dejected, is hungry for the opportunity to prove himself and seeks validation and affection from the oddest of places and people.
I have this nagging feeling Paxter Strong won't be a good guy and he'll be used to show us how Alys gets along with her relatives. I think Simon Strong will be a far more respectable and dignified man than him. Paxter will be the go-between for Alys and Simon Strong. He could be the one to go fetch her to come attend to Daemon's wounds (according to the leaked audition tape of Alys, Daemon was suffering injuries). Alys and Paxter's interaction could tell us everything about how the Strongs view her and how they treat her.
I think Rhaenyra's potential interaction with the Strongs can mean two things:
1) she learns more details about Harwin's death, presumably residents of Harrenhal have their own opinions regarding what happened, perhaps some suggesting Larys' involvement (perhaps a few might speculate on Alys, which will be an interesting angle if that happens, since bastards are suspects number one, such accusations will strengthen her hatred towards Strongs, and as we have already seen that Lyonel and Harwin's deaths were caused by men hired by Larys)
2) relying on the information she learns, she can offer Simon Strong Harrenhal in exchange for his loyalty and i think he agrees, which easily explains why Aemond later ends Simon's entire line
It's all just my assumptions, however, I really think we are going to have a family drama of House Strong
I really look forward to seeing the Strong family drama, especially what could be going on between Alys and Paxter Strong. I'm sorry, the dude gives me very cold, aggressive vibes and the casting looks perfect for that.
Anyway, to be honest, I doubt if Rhaenyra will care at all for Harwin's fate. She used him as a temporary replacement for Daemon. Even though he's the father to her three sons, I don't think she'll be affected as such about him personally...but on the Larys involvement front, and the fact that he is Alicent's spymaster...now that, in show canon at least, can be used to stoke the flames of rivalry between Rhaenyra and Alicent, who until that moment she might have though was innocent and just dragged into the Dance by the actions of Aemond at Storm's End. Rhaenyra might even end up believing that Alicent was capable of instructing Aemond to take out Lucerys at Storm's End as a result.
You're right about Rhaenyra's presence in Harrenhal hinting at an alliance between her and Simon Strong, though. How can the man refuse them anyway with not only Caraxes but also Syrax there??
I've always thought Paxter Strong and Alys will be adversaries. So if it is indeed Paxter that Daemon's beheading maybe 2 things happened: Paxter did something wrong and Alys ratted him out for self preservation, OR Alys did something wrong and framed Paxter for self preservation. 🤔
