observing the many posts that comes to my for you page and i find it hypocritical and hilarious that the only stans defending alicents lobotomized writing are nyra stans, annoying alicel stans who hate other tg characters, rhaenicentpilled idiots and well mostly tb who're pretending to like alicent now when they're very much the first to make an 'alicunt' joke. like we could've had maekarcerseicatelyn type of character for alicent (that's just book!alicent honestly), instead what we got is this and even then, I can't even defend her anymore, they're writing her in a way that would fuel more hate both for her and olivia (even the actress has express disappointment over her writing), and those aforementioned stans are still like 'hmmm wait this misogynistic writing is so slayyyyy'

It was silly of us to presume we'd get a close to book Alicent Hightower when she was introduced chiefly as Rhaenyra's FRIEND, before anything else that's canon like Otto's daughter, late King Jaehaerys' caretaker, or the mother to Aegon ii.
Right from the jump, they were telling us she's a totally different character. I just wish I clocked that faster instead of investing myself in her character?
The writers have neither desire for nuance nor complexity when it comes to Alicent's character. She's to them just what they introduced her as: Rhaenyra's cheerleader.
It's no wonder she attracts all these disingenuous fans.
