And to that anon: don't be stressed or embarrased just because you love creating. and if someone thinks it's "cringe", it's entirely their own problem. We're entitled to be passionate about things regardless of our age, cause actually, joy and hapiness DON'T age. That's all i wanted to say. Good luck and have a great time people :)

i completely agree! you can't let people's perception of 'cringe' put you in a hole, especially when it's incredibly likely one day those people are going to grow up and realise how wrong they were

You know, I’ve been here for 10+ years too (that’s not my first account) and I LOVE TUMBLR, and I LOVE MY BLOG, I met wonderful ppl here, not to mention all the effort I put in my blog, and I LOVE making gifs and seeing other people’s work and now? NO FREAKING IDEA WHAT TO DO. WE DON’T HAVE any other free platform to share our content! And if many of gifmakers will actually leave… this platform will be truly dead and I REALLY don’t want that to happen. Why tumblr, just why ;/

this is exactly how i feel too :( i've spent so long on this site that checking tumblr is more common for me than checking any other social media sites. and i feel like i carved out a safe space on the internet here, with friends i'll have for life. i wouldn't want to go anywhere else, because over the years i've curated this space for me surrounded by people i love and whose talent is out of this world. there is no where else we can go that fosters that talent and displays it quite as well as tumblr does! and the idea of losing that is really so depressing, because i've been here long enough to see so many creators come and go but i know this will be the final straw and i really don't want to lose what we've all worked so hard to create

lmao not people saying the app is crashing strincly bc of gifs, are you serious 💀 the app is crasing because its coding is shit, for me it may crash several times on my ipad while i'm JUST scrolling through my dashboard, it has NOTHING to do with gifs (and gifs are already looking like shite on the app btw) i'm very sorry, but people trying to justify this ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE decision kinda make me laugh honestly. Again, sorry for busting in, all of this is just really frustrating :/

please do not apologise for taking the time to comment!! it really is so frustrating to see people fundamentally fail to understand a) what giffing brings to this site b) how much effort goes into it and c) the other issues that this site has, but especially the mobile app, that have nothing to do with loading gifs. people who have had this change implemented on their dashboards have already complained that the .mp4s won't load which really does suggest maybe this is an app issue and not a gif issue. it feels like people are jumping through hoops to tell gifmakers to shut up without actually thinking through whether this will be the solution they want because they don't actually have to deal with the effort of creating content, they just want to sit and consume
