West Indies pull out of India tour
West Indies are to pull out of their current tour of India because of a payment dispute between players and the West Indies Cricket Board.
The teams were scheduled to play a five-match one-day international series, a one-off Twenty20 international and three Test matches.
But the tour will come to an end at the conclusion of Friday’s fourth one-day international in Dharamsala.
The decision was confirmed by the
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The current ODI series is tied 1-1 after Tuesday’s third match in Visakhapatnam was
abandoned because of Cyclone Hudhud.
West Indies players have been in dispute with the West Indies Players Association (WIPA) over the signing of a new collective bargaining agreement and memorandum of understanding.
It would see sponsorship payments reallocated to fund the wider professional game in the islands.
The BCCI has been advised the players will be returning home immediately after Friday’s game and said it was “shocked and extremely disappointed”.
“The withdrawal gives little thought to the future of the game, the players and the long-standing relations between the BCCI and the WICB,” added honorary secretary Sanjay Patel.
“This is a unilateral decision taken by the WICB and its players, in spite of several appeals to the WICB to honour its commitment and complete the series.”

reported Sri Lanka have “in principle” accepted an invitation from India to play five ODIs between the 1 and 15 November.
