Oh, Panic

She comes when you aren’t looking, she doesn’t give you time Creeps up behind your shoulder and slips her  fingers down your spine Bites deep into your skin and breathes her name into your mind,

as her trembles course your veins, and against your chest your heart bangs Dear Panic You ask, what do i owe this visit to my brain.

She smiles then and twists you toward her, and straightens up your back then slides her hands across your cheek and rests them on your neck There is no fight against her now, her strength knows no bounds and you know no remedy to the darkness she surrounds. Panic is profound

Tightening her endless grip, her lips steal your breath and your forced to fall into her darkness and her depth No longer do you shiver, but no longer can you breathe and no longer can you see the light that kept you on your feet You curl into her darkest pit without anymore fight Panic has won again, taken you into her night

Why are you here? You whisper heavily, as your body begins to numb, and her dizzying voice answers back because you are the one.

The one who tries to get away, the one who tries to win and you need to know that i’m your brain and thus this never ends.

Even when you smile wide, we were meant to be, and every time you forget that, I’ll bring you back to me..

That lifeless spot inside your eyes that darkness in your heart, the fear beneath your confidence is where i’ve left my mark.

And yes you may move on and I may leave you be for years But when it’s time to pull you back, oh, wipe away those tears because i’m the only one who’s stayed, the only thing that makes you whole. Without me you’d have never found the light inside your soul.

You’ll be fine, you tell yourself, and I’ll make sure its true because all i’ll ever want again, is the light inside of you. Rest now, i’ve had my fun, and your all tuckered out. i’ll see you on a brighter day beyond a shadow of a doubt.
