Sketch 155: Zoom Do
Can we talk about amazing and diverse PBS ZOOM was? (Example: Season 1)
Get ready for a long post.
You’ve got your POC
Keiko, a super sweet and down to earth girl.
Lynese, who was SUPER funny.
Pablo, the very chill, cool guy.
Jared, who was Jewish and so charismatic and goofy.
Alisa, born in Russia and can speak Russian! She was smart and kind.
And who can forget the awesome Zoe who couldn’t participate in ALL the games, but loved a good competition.
Or our favorite green wearing shirt kid David? He may have rarely won games, but he was still an awesome kid!
Which ZOOMer was YOUR favorite? Mine was Keiko.
One of the locations that they filmed "Zoom" ,the pbs kids show, at was the science museum in Richmond,Virginia the city I live in. And I was a kid through the entire run of the show, so I loved it. Specially when we would take field trips to the science museum because at the time they would let you tour the set of Zoom and even play on them, pretend you were filming and teach you science and Ubbie Dubbie... It was awesome. When the show ended I was supper sad, because I had always thought one day I'd be on it for real, and if there was no show how would I learn the skills that are the many Zoom handshakes and Ubbie Dubbie. But not only that I also wondered if they would change the room around. I don't know if you remembered but the carpet was stripped the colors of Saturn's rings and some of the walls were the color of Jupiter. I'm pretty sure the room was my biggest concern after the show ended. And you know what they did? For about two years they didn't change anything, and a few years after that they put space exhibits in the room in new display cases. But you could still tell what it used to be and I loved that. It's been about 7 years since I've gone back... Is it weird that I hope it hasn't changed or that I'm scared about what it could be if it has?
Zoom- Full Intro
So I just watched a bunch of PBS Zoom clips instead of reading for school, and I realized that even when I was 10 I was just deluding myself into thinking I was straight. Like, I'm watching and realizing, "Oh, wow, I totally had crushes on the girls too, not just the guys. How did I not realize that?"
Also, I realized that I still know the zipcode for Boston from the Z-mail bit at the end. "Z-double-O-M box 3-5-0. Boston, Mass! Oh-2-1-3-4! Send it to Zoom!"
Reblog if you think they should have a "Where Are They Now" Special for these Shows!
