also loved the detail that they had to stop at a crossroads so tom could vomit. it’s a callback to when charlie got snatched in season 3 and really emphasizes how much distress he was in after the mosley plot failed.
also something about crossroads being important. there’s the obvious in that tom is at a crossroads—a decision or change must be made—but i think there’s something more symbolic or occult as well.
i mean that whole first scene, in the mud and mist, was incredible. him talking to his mom, picking the bullets out of the mud (so much mud from france). and then there’s the symbol of bullets throughout the whole show: carving names on bullets, but those bullets always failing. these bullets earmarked for tommy but removed from his gun, dropped in the mud.
